IMPORTANT: Updating from 40.2 to 41.0 Beta 1

If you have installed 40.2 and are updating to 41.0 Beta 1. You will run into an installation issue; this is expected, and a fix for that is coming in 41.0 Beta 2.

To work around this issue, you can delete your Data\<random>\Errors\ folder and then proceed with the update of 41.0.

Windows
1. Quit Logos.
2. Press Window key + R.
3. Type (or copy and paste) %localappdata% and press Go.
4. Open the Logos folder.

macOS
1. Quit Logos.
2. Open Finder.
3. Press CMD+Shift+G
4. Type (or copy and paste) ~/library/application support/Logos4
5. Click Go.

Thanks, Matt - I can confirm, with this workaround I got 41 Beta 1 installed from 40.2 without running into the issues other users had.

I did run into the installation issue (and Norton went haywire). I followed the instructions @Matt Mattox (Faithlife) posted but now Verbum is not opening for me. I attached my logs for help, please.

@Yasmin Stephen and once you got to this file path Data\<random>\Errors\ , you deleted the Errors folder right? After that, you should be able to open Logos and it should proceed as normal.

Yes, I deleted the Errors folder. However, remembering that Norton was constantly flashing me messages during the update, I went in there and found this:

Just chiming in to say that my antivirus program went haywire during the update as well, though I remained on the beta channel and never installed the service releases for v40. I told the antivirus program to chill out, and it let me install the update.

I can confirm that I used the workaround, and was able to install Logos without error. So far there doesn't seem to be anything untoward with doing this. I should say that I didn't delete the folder, I renamed it, for added safety.

Yes. If your antivirus has quarantined/removed Logos files, Logos (or Verbum) won't run.

You need to restore all files that your A/V has removed.

Try repairing the installation from "Apps" in Settings?

Then uninstall Norton and switch to Windows Defender. 😀

(As for replacing Norton with Defender, it's something I've been considering for over 3 years now and I still continue with Norton every time. My Norton subscription is up for renewal in less than a month and maybe this time I'll finally save myself US$90 🤔)

You would have saved a lot more over the years😀 I gave up on Norton many years ago, tried a few others, but have used Defender for at least 4 years.
