V11 remove inline search term

In v10 and earlier, if you were doing an inline search and you click on the search button in the toolbar, it would remove the search term and the results.

Since v11, if you click on the search button while doing an inline search, the search terms and results stay. To remove the search, you have to click on the "x" in the search box and then click on the search button in the toolbar.

I find this extra click very annoying and takes me out of the flow. Is this an intention change? Do other users also find this extra click annoying or does it benefit you?

I hadn't yet noticed that. I suppose there may be value in being able to return to a previous search, but I, too, prefer that a new, blank search be the default.
