BAD BUG: Regular Indexer Crashes (Verbum/Mac) - no Index now, help!

Every few weeks I check the console on my Mac to see if there are any crashes. This morning, I see a number of them from the Indexer:

So, I devised a test to see if I could cause a crash with fresh logs. I closed Verbum, deleted everything in the log folder, and deleted everything in the LibraryIndex folder. Then I ran Verbum again. I waited a minute or so, and I noticed the Indexer was not running - as it should, since there would not have been any Index! It did not run. So I closed Verbum, and checked console again - a new crash of the Indexer!

So checking the Indexer files, note they are dated Mar 19 - so they have not updated for awhile! There's been at least a couple of times that it attempted to run and crashed.

Here are the logs - sure enough it reports an Indexer crash. I hope you can find this one, it's been happening for quite awhile, I think I reported this once before.

The crash seems to be immediate, and the same each time, starting with:

2025-03-22 08:12:14.682 VerbumIndexer[13016:6666774] Exception ManagedException: System.DllNotFoundException: LogosIndexer
at LDLS4.Indexer.MacIndexerProgram.ShowNotificationAreaIcon() in /Volumes/Code/ghe_actions-2.301.1/Logos-2/_work/LogosDesktop/LogosDesktop/src/LDLS4.Indexer/MacIndexerProgram.cs:line 62
at LDLS4.Indexer.IndexerProgram.StartWork() in /Volumes/Code/ghe_actions-2.301.1/Logos-2/_work/LogosDesktop/LogosDesktop/src/LDLS4.Indexer/IndexerProgram.cs:line 261
at Bootstrap.MacIndexerProgramHelpers.StartWork_008(MacIndexerProgram self) in /Volumes/Code/ghe_actions-2.301.1/Logos-2/_work/LogosDesktop/LogosDesktop/src/macintosh/Bootstrap/GeneratedCode/MacIndexerProgram.g.cs:line 59

Does this mean some file is not found? If so is there a way to refresh the install?

But, now I have a problem - The Indexer won't work at all. Even Rebuild Index causes an immediate Indexer crash. So does deleting everything in the LibraryIndex folder. I tried restarting my Mac. I never see the Indexer process pop up in Activity Monitor.

So now I am hosed with no index. Any suggestions on how I can recover?

    No not really.

    It doesn't help you, but maybe for others: When I want Logos a logos folder to not be present (e.g. forcing Logos to rebuild that folder), I typically don't delete, but just rename them - as in the recent situation to get Beta installed over the stable SR. I probably would rename the LibraryIndex folder and then create a new, empty one instead of really deleting the index files in the folder - so trying to be able to roll back if something goes wong.

    I did save the files @NB.Mick , and one time I replaced them back in, restarted, etc. It still didn’t work. And from the console, it hasn’t worked for days so those files probably wouldn’t help anyway. Doesn’t it look like some file is missing, logosindexer.dll? Which is odd because there are no dll’s on Macs…

    Sad to hear that. Regarding the error and the DLL, sorry, I'm not a Mac person at all.

    I'm not sure if there is a way. You'll need to use your stable installation until this bug can be fixed in an upcoming beta.

    We've had a number of people (not just you) report significant bugs that impact their usage of the software in the last couple of betas, so I think it might be time to repeat the warnings again:

    Logos Beta releases are beta software. They may corrupt your computer or delete your data. The Passage Guide, searching, or viewing books may stop working. We recommend installing Logos betas only on a dedicated testing machine.
