Reading Plan In Chronological Order
I am new to Logos software and so far I haven't been impressed with their training materials. I want to create a reading plan in chronological order. I have tried different options, but can not get it to work properly. Any ideas???

Welcome! Hopefully we will be able to get you on the plan you want.
Could you describe exactly what you want your reading plan to look like? Does the following pretty much describe it?

Yes, that looks like it. Is there a simple way to get the software to do that?

There is now, at least for the OT. I can't guarantee the accuracy of this but I've put together the following string based on the plan I posted. Hopefully nothing is missing. If you find an error please let me know. Cut and paste all the text below into the reference line of the reading plan. I would recommend giving it a title as well so you can save the string in the list and use it later. If you need any help doing anything I've said above please feel free to ask.

For this year I have been using the Chronological Reading Plan. If you like, you can copy the text from the enclosed text file to the Reference Range line in the editing window of the New Reading Plan.
EDIT:
Sorry, I did not know Philip is preparing the list for you already.
P.S. You have to save the txt file to be able to see it as a plain text.

Yes, one thing is true, my list has worked so far and we are about the end of the year. [:)]

That list is not in chron order. Chron order starts with Gen1-3 and then goes to Job then back to Gen. For th amount of money this software costs, one would think they would have this option available. Iguess I am frustrated because I bought this software to save me time.....So far it hasn't!

Thank You guys for your help. I posted last prior to seeing Bohuslav's post. I copied the text and it did work. I would have thought there would have been an easier way. Typing that all out must have taken you awhile. Thank you again. I appreciate it. Please forgive me for my impatience.

You are welcome. The fact is I haven't typed it [:)] I just prepared it from an existing list.
You are right it should be possible to use pre-prepared Reading lists. We have just one in Logos and that is M'CHeyne's one. I would like to see some more of them, like ESV Study Bible etc.

One of the complications with Logos providing plans such as this one is that it puts them in a position of making official statements about their beliefs. One person may believe that Job fits between Gen 1-3, someone else after Gen 11, others during the time of Abraham, and others think its a nice made up story. As soon as Logos says "this is the chronological order" you will have the other groups saying "you got it wrong."
Take the weights and measurements for example. In Logos 3 they had a tool that would tell you what today's equivalent of an Ephah is. In biblical things (logos4:Things;id=ephah) they give the ball park, access to resources that can tell you why they gave that ball park, and what an Ephah is in relation to other biblical measurements. Before they could be misleading people. Know people are more likely to come to informed decisions.
So rather then giving us a subjective reading plan they give us the capability to produce our own. It takes a little more time but at least I am not forced into following a plan based on another person's beliefs. I can base my plan on my own.
I know learning your way around L4 can be daunting at first. I can tell you that the more I use the software, the more I love it. Keep in mind there are many people here in the forums that can help you find the answers you need. Stick with it and most likely you will not be disappointed.

It didn't take me long to get the chronological reading list into my Logos4, after one or 2 hiccoughs which were due to my ignorance and thus failure to follow the instructions. I now need to tweak it into a 3 year reading plan, i.e. divide the OT readings, as this will be more realistic for me. If I read a lot at once I totally fail to take it in.

You are probably right, however they always can produce Reading Plans that exist free on the Internet or are part of the resources produced by Logos (like ESV Study Bible). If they name it after the original source, it would not give impression it is following the Logos theological bias.

They could simply identify the reading list by its source. I, for example, wish there was an easy way of getting the 2 year cycle of the Office of Readings as a reading plan. What I'm hoping is that when we can share files, reading plans will be among the things we can share ... and that I can get the reading plan to do the various things I want.
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

Tried doing this but every time I paste it into a new plan, give it a name and then press SAVE, nothing happens. I then press GO and Logos crashes out on me (and I don't have the reading plan). Any tips as to what I might me doing wrong would be appreciated (I'm running L4Mac). Thanks

Hey, I've been using this plan for my OT Chronology since January 2017, so thank you very much. I was originally running it as a 3-year plan with 1 pass thru the OT and 4 passes thru the NT, but I got ahead and re-ran it as a 2-year plan. In any case, per your request to let you know of any errors, in the bold areas above, Proverbs is included in the lives of David and Solomon, but the plan as listed above had me go thru ALL of Proverbs, and then go repeat 25-29, and then later finish up with 30-31.
Today, I could not find your Chronology in either my hard copy or software copy of the ESV Study Bible, but did find it on www.esv.org. Incidentally, that plan (which seems to match yours in every other way) only has the reader cover Prov 1-24 initially, and then later 25-29, and then 30-31. Morris Proctor's Chronology is set the same way, as well as "A Chronological Reading of the Bible," so I fixed yours on the wiki-source page, only later this evening seeing your above request to be updated of changes.
Hence... this would be the correction:
Gen-Ruth, 1 Sam 1-20, ps 11, ps 59, 1 Sam 21-24, Ps 7, Ps 27, Ps 31, Ps 34, Ps 52, Ps 56, Ps 120, Ps 140‐142, 1 Sam 25‐27, Ps 17, Ps 35, Ps 54, Ps 63, 1 Sam 28‐31, Ps 18, Ps 121, Ps 123‐125, Ps 128‐130, 2 Sam 1‐4, Ps 6, Ps 8‐10, Ps 14, Ps 16, Ps 19, 21, 1 Chr 1‐2, Ps 43‐45, Ps 49, Ps 84‐85, Ps 87, 1 Chr 3‐5, Ps 73, Ps 77‐78, 1 Chr 6, Ps 81, Ps 88, Ps 92‐93, 1 Chr 7‐10, Ps 102‐104, 2 Sam 5:1‐10, 1 Chr 11‐12, Ps 133, Ps 106‐107, 2 Sam 5:11‐6:23, 1 Chr 13‐16, Ps 1‐2, Ps 15, Ps 22‐24, Ps 47, Ps 68, Ps 89, Ps 96, Ps 100, Ps 101, Ps 105, 132, 2 Sam 7, 1 Chr 17, Ps 25, Ps 29, Ps 33, Ps 36, Ps 39, 2 Sam 8‐9, 1 Chr 18, Ps 50, Ps 53, Ps 60, Ps 75, 2 Sam 10, 1 Chr 19, Ps 20, Ps 65‐67, Ps 69‐70, 2 Sam 11‐12, 1 Chr 20, Ps 32, Ps 51, Ps 86, Ps 122, 2 Sam 13‐15, Ps 3‐4, Ps 12‐13, Ps 28, Ps 55, 2 Sam 16‐18, Ps 26, Ps 40, Ps 58, Ps 61‐62, Ps 64, 2 Sam 19‐21, Ps 5, Ps 38, Ps 41‐42, 2 Sam 22‐23, Ps 57, Ps 95, Ps 97‐99, 2 Sam 24, 1 Chr 21‐22, Ps 30, Ps 108‐110, 1 Chr 23‐25, Ps 131, Ps 138‐139, Ps 143‐145, 1 Chr 26‐29, Ps 127, Ps 111‐118, 1 Kgs 1‐2, Ps 37, Ps 71, Ps 94, Ps 119:1‐88, 1 Kgs 3‐4, 2 Chr 1, Ps 72, Ps 119:89‐176, Song 1-8, Prov 1-24, 1 Kgs 5‐6, 2 Chr 2‐3, 1 Kgs 7, 2 Chr 4, 1 Kgs 8, 2 Chr 5, 2 Chr 6‐7, Ps 136, Ps 134, Ps 146‐150, 1 Kgs 9, 2 Chr 8, Prov 25-29, Eccl, 1 Kgs 10‐11, 2 Chr 9, Prov 30‐31, 1 Kgs 12‐14, 2 Chr 10‐12, 1 Kgs 15:1‐24, 2 Chr 13‐16, 1 Kgs 15:25‐16:34, 2 Chr 17, 1 Kgs 17-22, 2 Chron 18-23, Obad 1, Ps 82‐83, 2 Kgs 1-13, 2 Chron 24, 2 Kgs 14, 2 Chr 25, Jonah 1‐4, 2 Kgs 15, 2 Chr 26, Isa 1-8, Amos 1-9, 2 Chr 27, Isa 9‐12, Mic 1‐7, 2 Chr 28, 2 Kgs 16‐17, isa 13-27, 2 Kgs 18:1‐8, 2 Chr 29‐31, Ps 48, Hosea, Isa 28-39, Ps 76, Isa 40-48, 2 Kgs 18:9‐19:37, Ps 46, Ps 80, Ps 135, Isa 49-66, 2 Kgs 20‐21, 2 Chr 32‐33, Nahum 1‐3, 2 Kgs 22‐23, 2 Chr 34‐35, Zeph 1‐3, Jer 1-40, Ps 74, Ps 79, 2 Kgs 24‐25, 2 Chr 36, Hab 1‐3, Jer 41-52, Lam 1-5, Ezek, Joel, Dan, Ezra 1-6, Ps 137, Haggai , Zech, Esther, Ezra 7-10, Neh , Ps 126, Mal0 -

SMH. So this has been out here for nearly 8 years with a known problem that no one resolved? Seriously??? What ever happened to "may all who come behind us find us faithful"? Father forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing!Maybe they got too busy? Mr. Wojnar had a deficit to catch up bast 3/4 of the way through, Okay... Maybe neither of them were able to edit Logos wiki? Now that is still happening to more people. I'm also 3/4 the way through my 2 year plan, and not only have I adjusted and made up the deficit this created, but also resolved the missing book of Job at the source file.
Philip Spitzer said:Does the following pretty much describe it? http://www.esv.org/assets/pdfs/rp.chronological.pdf
Not actually, maybe comparatively... While that .pdf may be an approximation to get us all started, it is not actually the "Chronological Order from ESV Study Bible Notes" as entitled at https://wiki.logos.com/Reading_Plans#Chronological_Order_from_ESV_Study_Bible_Notes.
Note that Crossway has removed the Chronological Plan from their main applet in the past 3 months or so, "for editorial reasons" they told me in an email dated July 5th, 2018. The above .pdf file is still there at this moment, and while it places Job between Genesis 11 and 12, again, this .pdf file is not the ""Chronological Order from ESV Study Bible Notes" as entitled. Also on this .pdf file, credit for its origin is given to "www.backtothebible.org" and it matches the plan at https://www.backtothebible.org/reading-guide/12/1, Going to my hardcopy ESV Study Bible resolved this...

Where to put it? Before Genesis? Between Genesis 3 and 4? Between Genesis 11 and 12? Many plans do all of the above. Without getting into a technical discussion about obscure Hebrew words, authorship, and the dating of the book, F. LaGard Smith, compiler of "The Narrated Bible," sees it as compatible with the challenges those of the Dispersion would face, and he places it after the Fall of Jerusalem and the Dispersion and before the Book of Daniel. We might add that if they were, in fact, looking back to an example from the period of the Patriarchs, considering the ancient paths as they should (Jer 6:16), then so be it. Further, at the end of my ESV Study Bible hardcopy is a daily reading plan ... and the Book of Job follows the Dispersion, so as the plan is entitled, "Chronological Order from ESV Study Bible Notes," that is where Job has been placed.
