How fast is Your Logos 4 Mac?

Logos 4 Mac still seems a little slow and rough to me. Is it just me? Here are my specs. I am running Logos 4.0a SR 3. I have a 13.3" Apple MacBook Pro 2.26 GHz Intel core 2 Duo with 4 GB RAM.

Time for L4 to open to homepage: 27 seconds

Time for L4 to open from from homepage's automatic layout for bible study to Gen 1:1 with only commentaries open: 6 seconds

Time for L4 to open up a layout like Mark Barnes' recommendation: 11 seconds

Time for parallel resources to show up once I clicked on mine for Galatians: 6 seconds

Any other timed suggestions? I guess L4 just still seems a little choppy to me. The times I mentioned aren't too bad and I know the Mac team has said that they are working on improving L4's speed, but I still wanted to throw this out.

J - I've been using L4 since prior to Beta - almost daily (and Libronix 3 prior to that). Interestingly, since the latest release date for L4 for the Mac - My L4 has been running extremely slow, and choppy... on basic window changes & functionality. Just crashed on me 2wice within the last 15mins. I hope they speed things up soon! : (  Seems like my L4performance has gotten worse - unstable, unreliable. (I currently have the 2.33Ghz Macbook Pro w/4GB RAM.)

Takes 30 seconds to load a home page with 2GB and a 1.83 Core 2 Duo MacMini from 2008. Everything depends on how you optimize your machine and how much other stuff you have going on at the same time. There's a lot of process under the hood of L4. I suspect it will take the programmers awhile to smooth this out.

  • [:$] Dock to Home Page in 12 seconds; parallel resources - initial list without collection 10 seconds; opened reverse interlinear bible - parallel list with a collection 3 seconds.  Typed gal 6, pressed enter - Bible displayed (no waiting) - parallel resources with interlinear collection under 4 seconds.  Seems desktop Quad Core i7with 16 GB Ram and ATI Radeon 4850 with 512 MB VRAM bit faster.

Observation: 4.0b Beta 1 Rebuild Index in 2 hours 2 minutes, while 4.0b Beta 2 Rebuild Index took 12 minutes longer (10 % more elapsed time).

Subjectively feels several 4.0b Beta 2 actions more responsive.  For example, scrolling NA27 with 7 linked resources had fewer & shorter pauses (couple Bibles, several Commentaries, and Explorer) - scrolling down bit faster than scrolling up.

I had it crash in a demo. Was doing a demo on how to use Logos 4 for sermon prep. It crashed. On the passage guide. Lovely. And that was not the Beta. That was 4.0a SR-2
