The use of the LOL button

LOL means "Laugh Out Loud". Logos Forum comments template provides the button LOL. One may laugh friendly when someone says something witty, or laugh intentionally impolitely when someone says something stupid.
My question is how will the Logos Forum members react if someone uses the LOL button? Will they think it is a compliment or will they feel embarrassed?
Off topic, also testing the use of pictures: Is this hyrax laughing below? I took the picture in 1984 in Kenya.

I don't mind if there is a LOL button.
But I'd like to have a "Thank you" button which in my opinion doesn't express the same as the Like button and/or the Agree button.
(and a Smiley/Emoji banging against a wall as I mentioned earlier in order to confess to my user errors).

hmm⦠interesting view, it's really hard to gauge base on different people's meter of humor.
What I saw : Le hyrax is scratching an itch π
I use LOL button to express that I'm humored or find it funny, never to laugh at people in the intention of mocking nor banter.

Amen π
oh wait, now can we get an Amen button⦠?and a Praise Jesus button, and a Hallelujah button! or Praise the Lord button. lol

Maybe just post something stupid, and see what happens.

Originally LOL meant Lots of Love π

The thing missing with likes and LOLs is notifications. What is a like or a LOL if you don't know you got one. I would actively seek more LOLs if I received a notification each time. π€£ Currently you have to go and look at all your posts to see if there are any likes, LOLs, agrees, etc. For me that reduces the value. Why like or LOL when the recipient will probably never know. π±

And noticed Jason got rid of the little personal sayings, instead of reducing the font size.
EDIT: And they're back again!

You can tell by the double-circle iris (images below from DuckDuck). Of course, all iris's are double-circle (minor point). I did guess right on Egyptian β¦ Horus. Note that Antony's pair are not Horus'y.

The current emoji of LOL suggest a positive attitude. Could resemble an ancient Egyptian hieroglyph?

At my age, the first use I recall is for "little old ladies" as in "little old ladies in gold tenny runners"
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship.";Β Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

I just Loll'd every post on this page, because I can. However, I found I could not LOL my own post, or I would.

Hard to say. Much has to do with the flexibility of ancient writing tools. Definitely not Sumerian.

Depends on context. If I intended to say something clever, then an LOL is a complement. If I didn't, then maybe not so muchβ¦

Based on the timeline of the whole forum chaos, I think the Insightful eye cursed the updates lol
Just stick to the bulb π‘ π€

Hmmm. I don't even want to think about Horus's behaviors. Amulets were all the rage.
Light bulbs are just so β¦ well, insightful.

Good definition for "infinite," as in "This is infinitely better."
