Suggestion for new user option

I would find it much more convenient and have a better experience with Logos 4 if there was a global user option that caused any new book to open in a new window. I realize I can right click and select that, but Logos 4, in my opinion, overuses the right click menu concept. Regardless of whether others agree or disagree, I would just like the simple option of always having new books, the library, the search function, my book icons in the top bar etc. always open in a new window. I can then dock or drag them where I want if I want to place them on my layout.

I could see the usefulness of this. I recommend adding the universal option to the right click menu :-)

JK. I do see how this could be useful,but of course Program settings is the place for it. Actually I think what I would prefer is a shortcut of holding down control while clicking on a link to open it in a new window.

Did you know you can drag resources to where you want them without opening them first (e.g. straight from the library, search results or shortcut bar)? That might be quicker still.

Thanks, I am aware of that. However, I frequently look at things without wanting to stick them anywhere on my layout. I have a link to a daily devotional that I'd like to pop up and look at and not use again until another day. My layout is pretty busy, I don't want it pasted into one of the small sections, just popped up in plain view. Likewise when I'm researching something. I temporarily look at a variety of books and as I investigate I want them to pop up on top of everything else so I can focus on the resource for awhile and then if I want to come back to it I'll file it in a favorites folder, otherwise dump it and move on. BTW Logos 3 did this wonderfully. I seldom want to change my basic layout or create another layout just for this purpose. Layouts take over 30 seconds to change on my computer and keep me from doing much else while Logos makes the change. If they only took 1 or two seconds I might do that.

Yes, that makes sense. Personally I'd like Logos to support SHIFT+CLICK to open resources in a new Window, as that key combination is fairly standard on Windows. That way we could choose on a per-resource basis, not in settings.

A further note on this.

Yesterday I was researching some stuff on baptism. As I scanned down my search results, I opened various resources to see if what they had to say was useful or just a passing comment. As I selected each resource I had to be very quick to notice which pane changed so I knew where it was. In doing this I noticed that as the resources was opened in one of the panes I couldn't tell at times until I hovered over the tab so it would show me the name of the book. You have to do this carefully too. For example to get it the resource information pop-up to appear, sometimes I had to select some other resource tab, then hover over the one in question. Using the little circle-I takes way too much time. This whole process may be logical, but not very efficient.

Now I did find that if I opened a resource from the search results, found where it went and opened it in its own window, then when I opened other similar resources from the search pane, they would go to this new window. That was helpful.

However the whole process isn't very consistent and efficient. I'd still like some way of telling it the target location for opening new resources.

This request might be on UserVoice, although it might be couched in terms of opening from the Command box. With my simpler layout I have a 50% chance of it opening where I expect!
