You can file this under the difference between the marketing and technical departments. While everyone has been losing it over the svelte MacBook Air models, Apple also released an upgrade option for their 15/17 MacBook Pro models to a faster i7 processor. Clearly aimed at a different audience, but one wonders whether the sleek new Air models will find themselves to be quickly outdated for applications in the not-too-distant future. I think we will soon see Air models with a better processor when they can resolve battery life/heat issues in them.

    I believe the assumption is that the use of flash memory compensates somewhat for the lower processor speed. Of course, it would be interesting to see how they function with regular daily use.
