What if the US president dislikes me or my country, and close my access to Logos?

Hi,

as of today your President has ordered Microsoft to close a mailaccount of the chief prosecutor in Europe. Hi dislikes his work. It is unlikely that Logos has the will and power to stand up to the president, if he demands influence on Logos accounts and users. As I have invested tons of money in my lovely library, it would be really really bad, if I got disconnected. Is there any policy regarding compensations or the like in the situation? I am Danish, and Denmark is in his crosshairs in multiple ways in these days, so please do not write my request of as nonsense. I look forward to hear from Logos. Kind regards Gunnar

You raise a real concern. In the past invaders burned monastic libraries on the whim of a ruler. My Cathedral has no records before 1055 because they were all destroyed. Now we fear a digital shutdown.

Your concern is unfounded. Trump is defending the world from an antisemitic Islamic chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Karim Khan. US President Donald Trump sanctioned the court in The Hague in February after a panel of ICC judges issued arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for claims of "war crimes" in the Gaza Strip in November. No concern for Hamas, however. Be worried about the corruption of the ICC. We are protecting the world from its evil powers.

The danger posed by such a scenario has to be viewed in context. The owner of the email in question, Karim Khan, had ordered the arrest of Israel's prime minister and defense minister. I don't see Faithlife's executives engaging in anti-Semitic behavior or causing international incidents to provoke the same response, so no danger of Logos itself getting hit like Khan did.

But you asked in terms of you or Denmark being the targets of hypothetical U.S. sanctions that could impede your access to Logos. What sort of scenario are you envisioning? Denmark as a whole isn't going to do anything to get on as bad a terms with the U.S. as North Korea, Iran, Syria, Cuba, Russia, and Belarus (the countries under sanctions from Logos access would be a problem), and the part of the question about you personally is impossible to answer without specifying what hypothetical activity the U.S. might personally blacklist you for. Criticizing the U.S.? You're fine. International terrorism? Probably going to lose that Logos access, among other things.

I think some of the answers don't get to the heart of the question. You and I may, or may not agree, with Trumps actions. The issue is bigger than what did the president do with one email account. Their may be Logos users in other countries who's leaders decide that access to Logos is no longer allowed. This question is bigger than just what happened with one email account form one president. What could be done if suddenly a country, any country, outlawed access to Logos?
