How long, how long...
Alright, it's been a while since Logos sent an email saying they wouldn't make it available in Libronix format -- my question is, How much longer do we have to wait to get the Logos 4 edition of the new Hebrew Audio Pronunciation. I could really use that right now; but some how it looks like the subject has gone into oblivion again. Any reports dear friends at Logos?

I'm still interested as well. There are a few more things I would like to see first but at this point I am not very picky.

Well I have it on pre-pub from near the beginning, and they have been working on it. As Bob said it was more complicated then Greek, but here is a link...

Same hear. I have heard that the Hebrew Pronunciation Add-in would be preceded by many false prophets, wars and rumors of wars, earthquakes, and Barnes Notes moving from Community pricing to Pre-pub. [;)]

My question is...what kind of pronunciation would they use? I would guess--bet even--they use Modern Hebrew. Problem is...Modern Hebrew is grossly in error.
While I'm on this soap box--many if not most (and it could be easily be most) of the currently available Hebrew Grammars, whether in Logos or not, give conflicting and obviously incorrect pronunciation guidelines. For instance, hheitth and non-dagesh kapph are not pronounced the same way (the ludicrous "CH" like Bach), even if 1000 PhD's write books saying otherwise. Biblical Hebrew doesn't have a V or F sound either. Modern Hebrew does, but it shouldn't. Of course, the scattered nature of Hebrew speakers around the world has led to differing and divergent pronunciation schemes. The Ashkenazi even pronounce the taw (tav in Modern Hebrew) as an "S". So the well-known Talmudic tractate "Pirkei Avotth" (usually spelled "Avot" in MH translit schemes) is spelled and transliterated as "Avos".
Point being, the chances of the Hebrew Audio Pronunciation you are desiring being anything close to credible, much less accurate, is slim-to-none.

don't know very much about Hebrew at all. It sounds like you have a lot of knowledge of the language. I suspect that what you describe is part of the reason the feature is taking so long.

I am not going to point to them but there are posts in the forums where Bob Pritchett addresses the Hebrew Pronunciation issue. It seems the Microsoft speech engine is having a very hard time reading Hebrew. (I do too.) I would welcome anybody who wants to go rattle Bill Gate's cage if they think that will help hurry things up a bit. Or this is an excellent opportunity to get rich quick if somebody could go write their own speech synthesis engine that would meet the needs of Ancient Hebrew scholars. It is a tough assignment.

It's all different...the "general consensus" is that Yemeni is the most like Biblical Hebrew, but even that--in my estimation--has a few things that have mutated. I'm less about trying to be "biblical" (which is trying to grasp a phantom), and more about not being absurdly, undeniably false.
