Highlighting doesn't work on Laptop anymore

I have the latest version of Logos 10 with Max Subscription. I run it on a MacBook Pro running Sequoia 15.5. I've used Logos for a long time and have done a lot of highlighting, so I know how it works. But all of a sudden, some time ago, it stopped working on my laptop. When I select a word or phrase and then click on a style, nothing happens. Period. However, if I open my iPad and select the same word or phrase and go to highlight it, then I have no problem at all. It works. So, as a workaround, when I want to highlight something I have to stop, open my iPad and highlight it there.
What has changed, or what am I doing wrong? Can someone help me here please?

The usual answer is selecting the Visual Filter for your highlights. But you said, you're well experienced.

when you try to create a highlight on your laptop does it appear when you open the same book on your iPad?

DMB, I don't want to create a visual filter, I only want to highlight one word or phrase.
Graham, I gave that a try and no it doesn't work.

.
When I run into this problem it is always a matter of not having requested the highlights to show - or the specific notebook to show. Resource tool bar > Notes > Show notes and highlights > select notebooks.

Hi @MJ. Smith
When I run into this problem it is always a matter of not having requested the highlights to show - or the specific notebook to show. Resource tool bar > Notes > Show notes and highlights > select notebooks.
My experience is that if I add a highlight into a notebook that is not enabled then the software automatically enables it for display. Do you not see that?

To eliminate any strange issue with clicking not applying highlights, what happens if you try to apply the highlight from the Notes tool?
You can do this by selecting the text and then selecting the outlined option in the Notes tool

I have the Highlight panel open on the left. I then select a word or phrase. Then I click on a desired highlight. Nothing happens. I even tried highlighting a word, then with two fingers press on the touchpad to reveal the Selection menu. I then select a highlight. Nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

What am I doing wrong?
I'm not sure you are doing anything wrong - but it seems very strange.
We might need logs to identify if there is a problem - but I don't know if they would tell us anything.
Have you tried restarting Logos on your Macbook?

Graham, this is getting stranger. Your suggestion to open the Notes tab and highlight from there works! However, I find that I have to leave the Notes tab open in order for the highlighting to work. If I close it, then I can't highlight anything. Only by leaving it open can I highlight text.

Graham, this is getting stranger
Agreed
I’m starting to wonder if it is some strange trackpad-related issue (although I have no idea what that would be)
If you have any keyboard shortcuts associated with highlights, do those work?
