can I re-name a tag in Notes?

I am just starting to discover how to utilize "tags" in notes, and I am finding it super helpful.

I do have one tag from a few months ago when I was experimenting which I would like to re-name. Is it possible to re-name a tag?

Not directly. But it is indirectly possible to do without much trouble.

Select the tag you would like to rename in the Filters sidebar under Tags.
Select all of the notes shown.
On the far right side in the Tags section, click "-" next to the tag that you would like to remove.
In the "Add tags..." box, add the desired tag.
Select "Apply changes".

Than you for clarifying this and the steps. That was helpful. Given what you said, since tags cannot be renamed, are they able to be deleted? Not simply from a note, but the entire tag itself?

If a tag is removed from all connected notes it will be deleted. It works the same way in Library.
