Make mobile app work without internet access

I know, I know, you need internet for different features. But, if the resources are downloaded, please make logos app to simply. Just. Work. Offline.

Think of people going to missions , traveling abroad or simply going to retreats into deep forest where they dont want to be disturbed.

Visiting Ukraine now, with only internet access via poor hotel wifi, and app is almost useless tho i have dozen bibles and hundred other resources downloaded on my android tablet. Start with loading local content and then pull whatever else needs to be shown via internet. It takes logos 5sec just to recognize that act 16 is a bible reference when using the bible which is currently open. So sad.

What, specifically, are you doing when you see this?

I've just switched my iPad (I don't have an Android device) into Airplane mode and hyperlinking to biblical references or entering a reference in the verse picker works just fine.

I have an Android device and can confirm what Graham wrote. If you switch into airplane mode the app will perform much better.

I generally echo the request to make the mobile app less Internet dependent wherever possible, as I have already in the past, multiple times. Among other things, it is regrettable not to be able to run guides on resources that are downloaded. For instance, one may have tons of commentaries downloaded but cannot run the Passage Guide offline. One may have lexica downloaded but cannot run the Bible Word Study offline.

this is exactly my issue. I don't care about the slowness (could be my android tablet…Logos loves IOS way more btw) but when features need internet access for downloaded resources, i really don't understand that. Seems the mobile app is just a front for the Logos web version.

As I understand it, it's a consequence of the overall design.

Many features are designed to work in a client-server arrangement where the mobile app takes requests from users, forwards those requests for functionality to Logos servers, receives responses back and presents that information to users.

As such, they are just not available offline whether books are locally downloaded or not.

My guess is that changing that design approach would be a significant piece of work

… which I always thought was an affordable delivery strategy, also feeding the web app.

Of course absent internet …

This is how it looks like when I turn an airplan mode. Now, I do have at least 18 lexicons and FSB downloaded, and the results do show up if internet is working by loading those same resources. So I just find it frustrating that Logos feel like modern urban lifestyle app rather then a robust swiss army knife you can take to your adventure.
