Has anyone try to run the Logos4 for Windows and Logos4Mac on the same machine to compare the performance? Which one will be faster?
Before the latest Win beta, i would say that Mac was comparable with a few exceptions: parallel passages, syntax searching and morph searching. The latest Win beta has some optimizations that make it faster overall. However, Mac developers posted on the forum that they are currently working on some optimizations for the Mac that should improve the overall user experience. I ran the Win program using Parallels 5 and XP.

Have you try it on Boot Camp? That gives a more realistic result, comparing only the two platforms while holding the other factors constant (including running natively).
Thanks.

That has not been my experience. Running L4 Win under Parallels 5 with XP. For me, L4 Mac has been so slow I actually wanted to install Parallels on my MBP. This may be because Beta 2 seems to have a terrible memory leak. As RAM usage increases, everything seems to slow.
Suspect Boot Camp partitioning size could skew results a little bit - Boot Camp partition physically uses slower part of disk drive - anticipate small Boot Camp partition being bit slower than large Boot Camp partition on same computer.
Due to partitioning limitations, currently using VirtualBox (quickly compare Mac and PC Beta - easy as switching applications)
As RAM usage increases, everything seems to slow.
Wonder if paging happening as RAM usage increases ? Wiki page has http://wiki.logos.com/Mac_Troubleshooting#Slow_Performance with Activity Monitor example.

Kolen, to be honest, I am looking to remove L4 Win from my MBP. I am close once they get things optimized a bit. Setting up boot camp would be a move in the wrong direction for me I am afraid. Others may have it set up that way and may respond.
By way of comparison, search in James for forum http://community.logos.com/forums/p/24956/185989.aspx#185989 took 205 seconds on iMac (2.8 GHz Quad Core i7) - running Logos 4 PC 4.2 Beta 3 on Windows 7 Professional (64 bit) in Virtual Box 3.2.10 took 191 seconds (7 % faster) to complete same search. Repeating search on Dell Studio XPS laptop with Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 2.26 GHz running PC 4.2 Beta 3 in Windows 7 Ultimate took 200 seconds (bit in between).
For this search example, all my Logos 4 installations had similar performance - know Boot Camp would be faster than VirtualBox (currently not willing to repartition iMac hard disk to quantify) - virtual machine useful for comparing Logos 4 PC and Mac Beta versions.
Another comparison: in virtual machine, parallel resources appear instantly (after clicking button) while Logos 4 Mac takes 2 to 4 seconds.
How about scrolling time when multiple open resources are linked? I know this has come a LONG way in the mac version, but there is still a bit of lag for me from time to time. Is this pretty much the same in the L4 Win. as well?
