I just heard that John MacArthur died at 86 years old. I've enjoyed and benefitted from a number of books. He will be missed
My first Logos library was a MacArthur CD purchased from GTY. I used to get up each morning and play a taped broadcast message. Every time I turn on Logos, I remember who first directed that practice.
He will be missed but at least he is now experiencing peace and joy in the presence of the Lord.
Very sorry to hear of it. But I do thank God for his life and ministry. I have never forgotten one of his sermons on Genesis where he explained that everything we have and that goes on here in our universe can be related back to one of these 4 concepts: Time, Being, Action, and Matter.
And then he reads Genesis 1:1: In the beginning (time) when God (being) created (action) the heavens and the earth (matter).
My mind was blown forevermore. What a God! Pastor MacArthur was a great teacher, even if I didn't always agree with him.
You forgot space (the heavens). I remember this as well. I will miss him.
He was a wonderful Bible Teacher and has influenced tens of thousands for the kingdom.
A gem in the faith's tapestry. I treasure his body of work I have in my library. Praying for his family.
