A footnote in a commentary says, "The best survey I know of is R. P. Martin’s “Haustafeln,” in NIDNTT, 932.3:928"

The NIDNTT is hyperlinked, but clicking it djust opens of a different panel telling me the full name of the book.

I own the book and have opened it, but I cannot figure out how to find the entry. ChatGTP says 932 likely refers to a page number or article, 3:928 is less clear but could be "etc.. etc…"

I have entered multiple parts into the books search box but cannot figure out how to get to the correct place in the book.

You should be able to enter Haustafeln in the book's navigation box. Or Vol 3 Page 928.

@NB.Mick … Two things

(1) Your reply made me realize the quote was from the NIDNTT… and the ones I own are the NIDNTTE. I didn't catch that until now.

(2) The link you provided doesn't really answer the question… I don't want a fish, I want to know how to fish… How did you get to the entry from "NIDNTT, 932.3:928" … Is the 932 the page number? Is the .3 the volume number? And how can I find the entry from the search box or table of contents within the book?

@Andrew Batishko I think you may be correct… However, I didn't catch that the entry I was looking at was for the NIDNTT. I own the NIDNTTE… Got it mixed up so that might be my issue.

However, just to clarify in the post… the 932 is the page number? the 3 is the volume? and the 928, is that the entry number or something?

I'd like to know this for future searches

Sorry, Timothy, I have no idea what's happening in that footnote. I don't know what 932 represents. However, using #:### is a fairly standard format for volume and page number, and going to the article by name can sometimes be a good option.

Well, I opened NIDNTT and did an inline search for Haustafeln. Gets quite a numer of hits, but has an article, which actually is authored (as your footnote gives, too) by R.P. Martin. This is the one I gave you the link to.

It actually is in Vol 3 page 928, but I didn't locate it by this, I looked at Haustafeln because I expected a German word in this English-language work to be rare. The original commentary should have a link here, since the exact page is given to cretae it.
