[Free] Small Group in a Box!

In case you haven't seen it yet, Logos, Lexham Press, Text in Church, and BibleProject have teamed up to bring you a free done-for-you Small Group in a Box to use this fall. Choose from three study options or grab all three: Psalms, Parables, and Sermon on the Mount.

Each study includes:

Weekly lessons with fill-in-the-blank questions
Trusted video content from BibleProject
Free access to Logos, the world’s leading Bible study platform
A full messaging cadence to keep your group on track each week

Simply fill out the form, choose your studies, add any bonus Bibles you want, and "check out" (don't worry, it's all free). You'll be prompted to choose your church group (if you already have one) or create new one. Once you've checked out, you can access your Admin Portal and distribute the books to anyone in your church. Please keep in mind, you will not be able to access the admin portal if you are not an admin of your church's group.

Finally, take advantage of the messaging cadence put together by the great folks at Text in Church. You can try a 30-day free trial with them and hit the "Easy Button" on the text and email cadence. Or you can take the messaging and build it out in your own messaging platform.

I've been exploring the types of study questions used in the materials developed by specific denominations - concentrating on denominations I know little about. I have found at least 3 common forms:

Questions and answers i.e. where the student learns a fixed answer provided by the study guide.
Fill in the blanks/list n points i.e. where the questions are comprehension oriented coming directly from the text.
Open ended discussion questions i.e. where the questions have no single answer but require the student to consider and weigh multiple possible answers.

I am curious as to why you have chosen option 2 which rarely needs the power of Logos.

That's a great question, @MJ. Smith. Here's the main three reasons:

1. This is primarily targeted at bringing in new Logos users (though our power users are certainly welcome to take advantage of it too) so I wanted something simple and accessible to as many people as possible.
2. I needed the study to be completely free, so I was dependent on what Lexham was willing to let me use.
3. I wanted something that would allow churches to catch the vision for how Logos could be used with their church, and I liked that this one had an interactive element of filling in the blank because it would drive participants into the tool and allow them to slowly become comfortable with it over time.

I also knew that the learning curve for many folks just discovering Logos for Church for the first time would be pretty high. They're getting introduced not only to Logos for the first time but also our group Admin Portal. So, I don't want to overwhelm people with too much complexity all at once.

My hope is to produce more of these in the future with a variety of paid and free resources. But for now, I just wanted to build a simple pathway for churches to immediately start adding their congregations in and using the product in a simple, accessible way together.

I hope this helps explain some of the reasoning behind why we did what we did. As always, I welcome your feedback and suggestions for how we can improve this next time.
