is there an index for the maps to access? I have to guess about where a map may be at and then scroll the Bible till I find a map that will work. What a waste of time!!!! The main reason I bought it was for the maps. Did I waste my money?

There most certainly is. The maps that are at the rear of the print study Bible have an index called Map Supplement and it is the last item under Contents in the Table of Contents list. Below the Contents listing there is another list called List of Illustrations that has all the maps that are in the text.

The Maps also appear in the Biblical Places tool.

Mark, i think he is referring to the 200+ maps in the text (e.g. see Gen 2:15-16). There are numerous maps throughout the text with no list or links. The Illustrations are not to maps (perhaps city maps and such).

If you bought it for the maps and you got the maps then you did not waste your money. But the ESV Study Bible is a Study Bible, not just a maps source. It is designed to make it easier to study the biblical text and so its index/Table of Contents is designed accordingly. If you want something that makes it easy to find maps, buy a resource that focuses just on maps.

That said, there are various ways to access the maps. You can use something like the Biblical Places tool to find maps of particular regions. The results include maps found in the ESV Study Bible:

There are also a number of maps at the end of the ESVSB that you can access from the Table of Contents:

Perhaps the easiest way is to use the Logos search feature and just change which fields you are searching. Run a Basic search and click where it says Entire Library, change it to ESV Study Bible. Then click where it says All Text and change it to Description. Type in some feature of the map you want to find (Thessalonica, etc) and see if that helps pull up the map you want.

Several have requested that Logos add the new Crossway Bible Atlas to its software library.

That would be a great complementary volume.
