just bought logos 4 learning how to use it . Is camp logos worth going to or to buy dvd to learn how to use it .
If anyone has gone to camp logos your feed back would be helpful Thanks.
Absolutely without question, yes! I attended a Camp Logos several years ago shortly after I bought the software and I was immediately light years ahead of where I would have been had I simply tried to learn things myself. You can save money by watching the Logos produced videos online, but there is nothing like sitting in a seminar and DOING while Mr. Proctor teaches (he is a fantastic teacher).
As an example I discovered a couple of months after the seminar that I understood Logos much better than my pastor who'd been using Logos for several years!
If you can afford it, go. You will not be sorry.
Larry, as a person who almost went to one, I'm waiting for the day one comes within striking distance. I've only heard very good things about it.
Camp Logos is incredible. Well worth the time and money.
Mo Proctor conducts the finest seminar that I have ever attended of any kind.
Totally organized, prepared, efficient, understandable.
I told him that he should do a seminar on how to do seminars.

I highly recommend attending the Camp Logos seminar. I attended Camp 1 two months ago and profited immensely. I am planning to attend Camp 2 early next year.
I'll chime in and echo what you've heard from everyone else so far!
Go, if you can manage it. In the first hour I learned things that would've taken me hours to uncover on my own.
As with most things, I find I get a great deal of encouragement and energy from working through something new with other folks committed to learning for the sake of a wider community.
I'm thinking seriously about attending Camp Logos 2 when it comes to the Boston area in May.

2011 National Camp Logos in Bellingham, WA (June 9-10, 2011)
Can anyone tell me the difference between a regular Camp Logos and the National Camp Logos held at HQ?
Matthew,
The National Camp Logos is actually held at a church near the Logos HQ. Here are a few key differences:
Maybe that last one is subjective. As far as content covered, there is not a huge difference. There might be a few Camp 2 topics discussed, but the biggest thing about National Camp Logos is the direct connections to Logos.
Hope this helped!
Also, for those wondering about Camp Logos, T.J. Luoma from TUAW.com (The Unofficial Apple Weblog) gave a review of his experience at last month's Camp Logos in Pennsylvania:

Thanks so much for the kind words. They are greatly appreciated!
GO, GO, GO!!!!!
5 minutes into it you will be glad. Fly to the nearest one to you!!!! Don't miss it!!!! You gotta go!!!!
I flew from Indiana to Colorado for my first Camp Logos (still version 3 back then). It was great! This month, I'm driving to Ohio for Camp Logos and looking forward to it.
Morris Proctor is great and he has great materials. You will learn more in two days than you can discover on your own in two years.

I attended a Logos 4 Camp Logos last April in Oklahoma City. I think it is very worthwhile even if held in a very ugly place. [+o(] I am looking forward to attending a Camp Logos 2 for L4 but I wondered if there is any discount for alumni who wish to attend another Camp Logos 1. I think with the added incentives you listed for National Camp Logos it would be yet another good investment. I know I did not soak up everything Morris Proctor shared with us the first time around. (He is an amazing teacher.) I would love to get DVDs of the L4 Camps 1 & 2 but still hope to attend more live presentations.
So, in case you glossed over the question: Is there any discount for alumni who wish to attend another Camp Logos 1?
Bellingham sounds nice. London sounds nice. How about another Alaskan cruise or maybe the Bahamas?

The church where it was held (Henderson Hills Baptist) is beautiful and very hospitable. I just happen to live on the southside of OKC where the graffiti patrol keeps painting the local businesses. (And the city designates the weeds in the medians as "wildflowers" so they don't have to mow them.) [6]
But let us be diplomatic: Any time you are surrounded by Logos users and listening to Morris expound on the use of L4, you are in a beautiful place.
alas I know what you mean; I have family south of Norman and I graduated from OSU even though not an OK native.
BTW my Logos 4 Mac volumes 1 & 2 manuals just arrived. Is this similar to the materials for the camps?
And yes the carta release e-mail I mean old Russian proverb applies here: "It is better to see once than to hear [or read] 100 times"

I am very encouraged by what I have read in this thread about Camp Logos. I've been having some difficulty getting up to speed with Logos 4 and I've watched the Videos and I've purchased the Logos 4 Training Manuals 1 & 2, and someone advised me to definitely go to Camp Logos.
I've never been before, and there is an upcoming Camp Logos 2 coming to Boston in May 2011 and there is an upcoming Camp Logos 1 coming to Boston in Sept 2011. So, my question is: "Should I practice the Pre-requisites now for Camp Logos 2 and skip Camp Logos 1 and go to Camp Logos 2 in May 2011 - OR - should I wait an additional four months, until September 2011 and only go to Camp Logos 1?
As I said previously, I've been having a lot of trouble getting up to speed with Logos 4, but I'm not afraid of jumping in to Camp Logos 2 (even though I've never been to #1) - because I'm usually pretty good with topics / concepts - once someone is showing them to me. I would NOT want to get snowed under immediately and end up wasting the time and the money, and come out of it wishing I had just waited and gone to Camp Logos 1 in September.
Any help / advice would be appreciated.
Thanks, David
Hi Again,
I just have to jump in here with one other thought.
I guess why I'm unsure about Camp Logos is that I could put that money toward an Upgrade to the next Base class package, so it just seems like so much money to spend on a seminar! That money represents a lot of Resources, etc.
Or another way to look at it is that I desperately want the BDAG / HALOT Bundle, and there's no way I could afford to upgrade to the Portfolio Library, and if I did upgrade to the Platinum Library (from the Scholar's Gold), I would only get the DBAG with that upgrade, not the Bundle.
So with roughly the same money - my options are:
!) to upgrade to the Platinum Library; 2) keep the Scholar's Gold and buy the BDAG / HALOT; OR 3) Stay with the Gold and go to Camp Logos and be able to use what I already have BETTER than I am making use of it right now.
Decisions, Decisions.
David,
As far as your first question... In the regular Camp Logos we do not assume any knowledge of Logos Bible Software from the attendees, therefore we start from scratch. In Camp Logos 2 , however, we ask that you have a basic understanding of some key features/concepts:
I hope this helps. If you have our training manuals, you can review the above and should be good to go for Camp 2.
For your second question, I would (of course) suggest the third option. I think once you learn all the powerful things that you can do within Logos, the books in your library become that much more valuable.
Also, Logos has a 12 month payment plan for their books so just think of Camp Logos as a "down payment" to maximize your library to its fullest potential.
Again, this is all subjective, but it certainly is where I stand! [:)] As always, if you or anyone else have specific questions, feel free to e-mail me at David@mpseminars.com. Thanks.

Hi David,
Thank you for the response to my questions.
David, As far as your first question... In the regular Camp Logos we do not assume any knowledge of Logos Bible Software from the attendees, therefore we start from scratch. In Camp Logos 2 , however, we ask that you have a basic understanding of some key features/concepts: Home Page Guides Library Bookmarks Favorites Layouts Searching Cited By Lookup I hope this helps. If you have our training manuals, you can review the above and should be good to go for Camp 2.
This is fabulous, David!
I have both training manuals for Logos 4 (and also Libronix 3 [;)] ) - and I'm so glad that you think as long as I review the above listed topics that I should be able to go to Camp Logos 2 (in May in Boston) instead of waiting for September for Camp Logos 1 and then waiting until next year for Camp Logos 2 to come my way again. That is very encouraging. [Y] [Y]
Of the list above, I think I'm doing fairly well up until "Searching." I am having some difficulty setting up certain Searches. But I'm sure I could work on that between now and May.
I haven't tried anything regarding "Cited By" or "Lookup" at this point.
My main concern before May 2011, would be to make sure that I felt comfortable with whatever the minimum requirements were for Camp Logos 2, so that when I get there, I will be moving along with the rest of the folks and not falling behind because I didn't get a prerequisite right.
There are some things that I am working on that are what I would consider to be "advanced" topics, which still present a struggle for me, but I'm working on them. Like "Visual Filters" for example. I am working on some Visual Filters so that "Jesus" is replaced with "Yeshua" and "Christ" is replaced with either "Messiah" or "the Messiah" depending on the English / Greek usage. [Funny thing about that - just today I was looking at the "Genealogy of Jesus" in Matthew 1 and comparing the NIV-1984 and the NIV-2011 - and in the 1984 version it opens with "The Genealogy of Jesus Christ" and in the 2011 version it opens with "The Genealogy of Jesus the Messiah", so I was very impressed with that!] So my experience with Logos 4 is a mix of skills.
Thanks again, David
Again, thank you for your reply
I can't argue with that logic! Right now it would make much more sense for me to be able to better use what I already own than to add more to my Library, but not be able to use it effectively.

I didn't realize that Camp Logos would qualify for the Logos "Payment Plan" - that's terrific news!
I will definitely be tucking your email address away for future use, too! [;)] [Y]
Thanks! David
I'm sorry that I didn't clarify my Camp Logos "down payment" comment -- The books are available to be put on the payment plan, however Camp Logos is NOT.
The down payment comment referred to fronting the money for Camp and then putting all of your books on the payment plan.
Sorry for the confusion!
