Precise Word Count Under-Counts the Keyword

As part of a study method, I count the number of times words are used within a text. I started with something really basic expecting accuracy before digging into deeper studies. To my great surprise, Logos consistently undercounts words. I figured part of this was due to capitalization, but not only. Here are just two examples. I don't have time to solve the problem or do more work on this. Already spent way too much time on figuring all this out only to have tech support send me here.

The first one is due to capitalisation - to address this you can turn off the Match case option (outlined in red below)

The second one is concerning as it seems Logos stops returning results after a certain number in a chapter

And it isn't constrained to the CSB - the same thing happens in NIV as well

It will be interesting to see if someone from Logos comment on this.

You should be aware that your search isn't doing what you actually want it to do.

you, your, yourself, You, Your is searching for all of the places in the context level (which you have set to "Chapter") that contain all of those values. The lack of operator in between each term causes it to assume an AND operator between each. That's why if you switch your context to "Verse" you will only see hits for Isa 47:10 and Isa 47:12. The correct syntax (precise search is picky about syntax) is you OR your OR yourself OR You OR Your or if you want these all to be treated as a single term (can affect highlighting, counting and the way they are combined with more complex queries) term:(you OR your OR yourself OR You OR Your)

The lack of highlighting is not that the search is missing the terms (note the results summary just below the input box), but rather is a limitation on the number of terms that are highlighted in the preview text.

There are two ways around this.

Click on one of the results to open the resource. From there you can see all the result highlighting.
Switch your context (match within) from Chapter to Verse (make sure to also fix the query as detailed above). This prevents there from being too many hits in any single result to take it past the limit of 20 getting highlighted. This is valid in this particular search, because this search does not require having your terms within Chapter proximity to each other. This might not be a valid solution for other searches.

I wondered about the use of "," as opposed to OR and checked it but they gave the same results in Chapter searching and missed the detail you pointed out.

In addition to the above comments, turn off Case Matching (Aa icon) and Match all forms (-ed) if you are counting specific words. Then you don't need to specify upper/lower case forms in your query:-

Match all forms (-ed) would apply if you also wanted "yours", but this is algorithmic and should not be relied upon.
