In case you haven't already heard, Logos and the Society for Biblical Literature have released the SBL Greek New Testament, and it is available as a free download for Logos users! Visit http://www.sblgnt.com/ to get your copy.
This book automatically downloaded yesterday (10/28/10) to my L4 along with the SBLGNT Apparatuses (Apparati?).
I went through the Logos website to "purchase" the free book early this morning.
I closed and reopend L4 a couple of times, and I tried doing the "update resources" command. The book(s) still had not shown up.
Do I need to do something else?
Peter
I don't know if this will help but look at the difference between the two commands as listed in the wiki. I used the update now command and the books came right up.
UpdateUpdate Now (formerly Autoupdate Now) Incremental update. Checks what has been updated on the server against your last update.Update Resources Full update. Performs an intensive and time consuming – though generally unnecessary – check against your licenses, the books on your computer and the server to ensure that you have everything
I just checked my library -- looks like the books downloaded shortly after I placed the "order"... the joys of cloud computing!
Thanks
Okay I'll bite where do you find these two options.
If I go to the link I can find the download then I get a screen the says add to cart but at the lower left there is a download for two modules. I did the down load and nothing. So I went to check out and they wanted my credit card info for a free product. So I stopped.
What should I do. Find they upgrade now options. Download the files or do I have to go through the add it my cart check out, give my CC info and all.
How do you all keep this all straight? Without any doc and seemingly nowhere that tells you what is what.
Frankly Logos 4 is beating me up and I can't seem to find a way to understand what it is going to do next.

Hi Ed, as I explained in the thread you started, all the information is found in the wiki.
As it is a free product you will be charged $0.00, so go ahead. Thereafter the download should happen automatically for L4 - the download link is for the older L3 product. It may take a while to download in L4 which is why people will use the Update Now command in the Command box (top left in L4 window). My advice is to wait 1 hour and then restart L4. Use Update Now if necessary, but be patient.
On SBL, do you think they will add sympathetic highlighting for this resource?
I have Platinum L4 on two Vista Ultimate machines (with the old L3 Gold still on one). I had already had two automatic updates this week on each L4. Today, I 'bought' the SBLGNT from the machine with L4 only. Several closes and opens seemed to have failed to download it. I checked the other machine, it had already downloaded - presumably on one of this weeks updates. It downloaded before I 'bought' it. This certainly has confused me. I'm seldom certain what the automatic update brings in L4. In the old L3, one got a list of available downloads and checked them so one knew what was coming down. L4 is a little confusing on this point.
It downloaded before I 'bought' it.
The information from Logos has been that anyone with Scholar's and above should get these resources automatically. Only those below should have to do something to get them. I certainly got mine automatically, and so, obviously, did you, for one of your machines.
Unfortunately I can't offer much help as to why the synching between them hasn't worked, since I only use one computer myself, and therefore don't know anything about sync problems. I presume you've tried 'update now', 'update resources' and clicking the sync arrows on both machines? And that you've checked your library to make sure it really isn't there?
The other update this week, btw, was updates for a long list of resources. There's a list somewhere on the Forum.
The only synch problem I've had is the occassional '401' between my L4 and Logos itself, which thus far (when my internet access is up) I've been attributing to the Logos server responsible for that function being down. I was seeking (1) someone in the know saying 'yes' or 'no' on my assumption. The second was (2) how the free 'stuff' downloaded automatically. You directly answered (2). Maybe I just need to live with (1). -jdp
