NICOT and NICNT old vs new versions

I'm finding it a bit monotonous to distinguish between old and new version of the commentaries. I wish they would show different covers or something. I have many of the old but want to be sure I get the new ones as they come out. I almost bought one of old versions thinking it was new. Now I just look at the release date to try to figure it out. Does anyone have any hints to help me keep this straight?

Also, I had found a website that showed a complete list of what was out and what was scheduled etc. I failed to bookmark it. Does anyone have the URL?

I don't have a website, but I do know that sometimes the "new" versions are by completely different authors. I don't know if they are rewrites or just updates being done by a new author; I've never really dug too deep into that before.

I'd be curious to know if there is somewhere that has a comparison of the two…

The only telling thing is that on the Best Commentaries website, sometimes it differentiates between the old and the new NICOT/NT versions… It does so through the year of publishing of the edition that it recommends for each book of the Bible.

Different covers won't always work, unfortunately.

Many times, publishers reprint a whole series with a new cover - Tyndale OT/NT Commentaries I'm looking directly at you!

I have since given them away (I have them in Logos now) but I had the whole OT series in the nice black covers, and then one single volume in a different style cover. The NT set was worse and I had 3 different style covers. Once I even picked up a duplicate because I thought it was a different book.

That is actually something I have appreciated about the NICOT/NT… I think it has been decades since they've changed the covers. And I think they've only had one style of cover before that (the yellow dust jackets with the nice blue cloth board with red/gold label on the spine).

I prefer my books in Logos, of course, but it is always so nice when publishers put some thought into making the books look nice on the shelf - especially with something like the NICOT/NT where they are usually pretty expensive. So it's nice that I may have some from 20 year ago and then I buy a new one today and it matches on the shelf.

Years ago I did a monthly subscription to purchase a commentary set direct from the publisher, and every month or two I got new volumes. And it was a bit disappointing when half way through the subscription they reprinted one of the volumes and gave it a different spine, so I had 30 some volumes on the shelf, and one stuck out like a neon sign.
