It just occurred to me, If I own a book in my library, and that same book goes through an update, i.e. 2nd edition, does my logos book get updated or do I need to purchase the newest edition?
In general, we would need to purchase the updated edition as it is considered to be a separate resource.
I think there are cases where there have been updates to Bibles and these have been automatically applied.
It depends on the publisher. Most of the books I have purchased over the years that later came out when 2nd, 3rd, editions, etc., especially where there was a major ISBN number change, I had to re-buy the new versions. The publisher treats the Logos editions the name as print editions.
Occasionally you may find a publisher who releases a minor update/refresh to a book and pushes out the updates free of charge in the Logos editions. I've had that happen with a few of my Logos books.
One area where you may generally receive a free upgrade is eBook editions to Logos-tagged editions of the same book. There are books I bought under Vyrso/Faithlife eBooks/Logos eBooks that later upgraded the same title to Logos-tagged editions, and most of those I received a free upgrade to. This especially happened to a lot of my books during the Wordsearch transition.
Thanks a bunch for the reply! Now I know what to watch for.
Thanks for the clarification on this !! appreciate it.

If I could have Logos "Books" searches include unowned books that have been recommended to me or have somehow caught my interest, that might help me to make purchase decisions. For example, search results might reveal: Hmm, I'm my library is lacking on this topic but oh look, it's in that book that my pastor mentioned in…
