Is the Study Assistant applying a constraint it shouldn't be?

When I enter the question Why does James think prayer is for all Christians? the Study Assistant advises me that the search was constrained to sources authored by James - even though this doesn't seem to be the case.

This doesn't seem quite right - is there some refinement needed to how its algorithms are working?

As far as I can see the same thing doesn't happen on the current desktop beta

Interesting - I don't get the disclaimer … I am very curious as to what the parameters are.

Initially, I was wondering if this had anything to do with the "Your Books" versus "All Books" selection; however, I just tried it both ways, and I did not get the constraint notification. I'm curious now, too, as to why it did that and if it's just a glitch or something else….

I think you are running this on desktop @MJ. Smith - as per my comment I don't see this issue on desktop.

I tested the question in the web app, and I didn't get the message:

I'm unable to replicate this issue. I do not get this disclaimer on web nor desktop (Windows).

However, this test raises a different question for me: Why do I get different responses (taken from slightly different selection of books) between the web app and the desktop app? This discrepancy is happening with both "All Books" and "Your Books".

Also, just curious: will all users get exactly the same answer if we all type in the exact same question and select "All Books"? Anyone interested in running a small experiment?

No, the inner workings of AI mean we may get different answers. We would be more likely to get the same answer in an "all" search rather than a "books" search as the books search is library dependent - my library does not match yours.
