Please give us the option of scheduling downloads and installs...!

I have been a Logos user for some time now and love the software but I have encountered problems a couple of times when updates installed and the system would no longer work.

What makes that extremely problematic for me is that sometimes when updates automatically download and install my system stops working at extremely inopportune times (like yesterday evening, a Friday and today, a Saturday).

I have been scouring the user forums all morning, trying everything I can to get my software up and running but so far I am out of luck.

So, here I am as a pastor headed into the weekend with the responsibility of preaching two times tomorrow morning and I have been without the resources I need since yesterday.

Here's the bottom line for me right now: I love Logos and I love the attitude of your tech guys and the other users in this forum but I want to strongly urge you to find some way in the software to give the user complete control over when and whether or not downloads occur and updates install. If I leave my computer on all day or overnight or whatever, these downloads and updates can occur and lock me out of my resources without warning right when I need them the most.

Please, please, please fix this....!

Thanks...!

    Hi Mark,

Your problem must be frustrating for you. Try this:

Where is says automatically download updates select no. Now it will notify you of available updates, but not download or install them. This allows you to determine when you want to have the update or resource installed.

Thanks for the suggestion. I started out with early Alphas on the Mac side and expected issues when working with software under development but did not expect it from a finalized version. I don't think I have even set the preferences for the software since it reached the stage of development where it could do that, but I guess automatic download is the default.

Anyway, thanks for your suggestion! I will be sure to do that if I can get it back up and running again!

I apologize that I can offer you no help with your current situation, but you can avoid it going forward.. I am certain your teaching this weekend will be Spirit lead and wonderful.

Thanks for joining your faith with mine, John! :)

I just managed to get it up and running, by the way, by simply dragging the application to the trash can, downloading the latest update from www.logos.com, and then re-installing it.

    Blessings to you, too!
