Just a curiosity …..
In the first edition of the NET Bible (2005) Matthew 7:22 reads … On that day, many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in your name, and in your name cast out demons and do many powerful deeds?’ Footnote 25 explains … tn Grk “and in your name do.” This phrase was not repeated here in the translation for stylistic reasons.
In the second edition (2019) Matthew 7:22 reads … On that day, many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many powerful deeds in your name?’ The phrase omitted 14 years before for stylistic reasons is now included.
What is curious is that the 2005 footnote is still included in 2019.
Now who wants to spend some time over Christmas checking how many footnotes appear in the wrong edition?
