I’ve throughly enjoyed using Volume 1 of this series, using it off and on throughout the years; more recently in Logos. I’ve recently gotten the Kindle edition of Volume 2, and I’m already disappointed to be hopping between Kindle and Logos in my workflow.
For example, Bruce Reyes-Chow, a Presbyterian minister wrote the series for Advent, Year A. This is part of his suggestion for the series entitled “Waiting Well” for Advent 2’s gospel reading: Matthew 3:1-12:
“Repentance and faithful living are about much more than sin-avoidance. There are sins of omission when we fail to act in ways that God is calling us to. Talk about these different types of sin, but of course also about forgiveness and the idea of unconditional grace.”
I appreciate the connection of advent to preparation for Jesus Second Advent, and I was inspired to come up with a list of “sins” and ask the congregation to rate scenarios of insufficient and sufficient “works worthy of repentance.” After preaching it twice yesterday, I think it came out really nice.
It was published in 2019 by WJK Press.
As previously noted, Volume 1 is already available in the Logos store. I’m suggesting Volume 2.
