why is my layout ignoring "send hyperlinks here"?

I have a layout with a bunch of texts linked to set A, and another set of texts all linked to set B. On set B I have "send hyperlinks here" clicked, and the little target indicator is showing on a text of B. (I assume I don't need to say hyperlinks go to here on every B text, since all the B texts are linked with B, obviously).

That all said, when I click on biblical references instead of going to B with the "send hyperlinks" indicator, it is overwriting my main text of A.

Any ideas what is causing this?

I'm not able to say what is causing this. It has been around for quite a long time (at least on Mac).

However, the workaround is when first opening the layout using "send hyperlinks here" is to first click on the tab or tabs where you have engaged that function to wake them up—then it will work as expected.

Doc B

This tool hasn't worked correctly for several years, and they don't seem to be able to fix it. The programmers will tell you the target tab has to be active (as Anon says) and that's the expected behavior, but that's a Pee Wee Herman answer; the hyperlinks should go to the target tab regardless of which tab is active. Everyone but the programmers expect the latter behavior (i.e., 'send hyperlinks here' would actually, always, send hyperlinks there).

Hi @Anon and @Doc B, thank you both for the clarification. I wound up deselecting the hyperlink thing and then re-setting it, and then it started working. Given what you both said, it sounds like I didn't do anything wrong and it is just a bug in the system. Thanks again.
