What do you remember about Logos 6?
That was when I first got Logos. I was a brand-new believer, hungry for God's word, and to grow in my faith. Logos was instrumental for me throughout my three degrees in Biblical Studies and Theology. I am grateful to the Lord for the growth He has provided me with and for Logos, which helps me study His word. To God be glory forever and ever.
Well, apologies, but Logos5 was my dream-boat (after Molassas4). But L6 put the brakes on the dream-boat. L7 returned to Mr Speedy-boat. I sat on L7 until L10, I think.
Logos 6 is my first permanent package. I initially bought Logos 5, but Logos 6 launched a few days later. I was dealing with a salesperson at the time, and she helped me return Logos 5 to get Logos 6 instead. Before all that, I had only been picking up the free books 🙈
I remember Logos 6 for introducing Logos Now, the subscription program that let us get every six week (?) new features that were being added to Logos. Anyone else here subscribe?
How about Interactives? I think they started with Logos 6. Anyone remember the advertising with the Psalms Explorer Interactive with all the colorful bubbles?
I remember Logos Now. I also remember my base package upgrade price starting with the same number as Logos 6 but having a couple of zeros after it. :-)
What a fun memory. We have come a long way since then.
I don’t remember that promotional material but good find. I’ve been around since Logos 2.1 but there are others no doubt with longer mileage. Now those were the days when you’d order a book and then eagerly check the mail each day awaiting the arrival of the disc in the the mail so you could add it to your library.
I still have the physical Portfolio that was mailed out with my Logos 4 Portfolio Discs when it was launched.
I still have my two (free!) Logos 4 t-shirts I got at a MP Seminars Camp Logos seminar.
Doc, that's going back to the beginning of the modern Logos era (cue the L3 mourners 😉).
You've reminded me that I have a Logos 9 t-shirt somewhere. (I always liked that 9 dot in a grid pattern L9 logo.)
It's been awhile since the CD days! For awhile one could buy the CDs from a few other dealers (Rejoice Christian Software usually had good prices). I think Bob Pritchett's mother used to run the shipping department, so when you got a CD from Logos she had packed and shipped it. Can't remember when the last CD came my way, though. Old times for sure.
Bob kept shipping CDs well into L4. Libby CDs of course!
IIRC I was doing my post-grad studies when L4 & 5 came out. I didn't have a powerful enough computer to upgrade from Libronix and didn't have the funds to buy a new one. I jumped into the new era of Logos with L6. All I could think was how much it would have helped me with my theses.
But I enjoy it now. There's no way I'd go back to Libronix even if I could.
Sean, I eventually had to upgrade my laptop based only on my Logos needs. I recall having to put my laptop in a cold room and blow a fan over it to keep it from crashing when it was indexing. Yikes!
I had a Logos 4 shirt until recently. Didn't fit me well anymore so I gave it away.
I remember when Logos used to mail CDs, they used those old stamps they bought from the stamp store. I purposely had CDs mailed to me over downloads just so I could enjoy that fun seeing what stamps they'd use next.
Remember the excitement of secret beta testing? (shhhhh…don't tell!) And the thrill of a new release?
I wonder what happened to my Logos water bottle.
I jumped aboard to do my dissertation last century. I just needed a better tool to do the original language stuff. The Logos package I bought didn't really have any resources I could use. But it did have a necktie which is as outmoded as the CDs it came with.
And it turns out that the fonts were all wacky because of tech back then. So I had to reimport my 300+ quotations once True Type became a standard.
It was fun in those days but I really love it now.
