New website: Upgrade page still not correct

I own Original Languages + Scholar's. The Base Package page acknowledges this, greying out both buttons. The Upgrade page, however, still only acknowledges Scholar's. This not only makes it an awful lot harder to get a correct overview of what a new upgrade would give me, it also calculates the wrong price, suggesting that I pay for resources I already own. I had been told this would be fixed with the new website.

Also, I would really appreciate if the individual titles both on the Comparison Chart and the Upgrade page were made into clickable links. When you're not familiar with these titles, it's an awful lot of work to have to manually search the website for each individual title you wonder about...

And the blue for 'Books you own' needs to be a shade or two darker. It's virtually indistinguishable from the white.

This is an incorrect (though understandable) assumption. The upgrade discounter page makes this claim (and has for quite some time):

Your upgrade price takes into consideration the base package you already own, your
Pre-Pub purchase history and more, to calculate a custom upgrade discount specifically
for you. Although we can’t reveal “the secret sauce” we can assure you that these
prices represent the best upgrade discounts available to you and take into account
your purchase history.

Yes, the upgrade page doesn't show anything beyond base package purchases. Yes, all your other purchases are taken into consideration to provide your upgrade price.

I do agree that the "Books you own" label is confusing in this regard, and I can see that some things marked as "Books I get" I already own. This table only takes into account base packages. But that's not stated clearly enough (IMHO).

So, even though I'm correcting a misunderstanding, I agree with your observations and would like to see a change for this page as well.

I don't think you read my post very well... I didn't talk about books bought outside of base packages. I talked about books bought inside of base packages. I talked about two base packages -- OLL and Scholar's -- that aren't directly 'in line' with each other. I e Silver includes all the books in Scholar's, but Scholar's does not include all the books in OLL. And those books that I bought through OLL, but which are not included in Scholar's, are not marked as owned, and are not deducted from the "custom upgrade discount". I have already confirmed this with Logos a month or so ago. And I have been promised a better price than the "best upgrade discounts available", one that really does take into account all the books that I own.

You're right. I missed that obvious detail, and the main point of what you were saying.

Apparently, this page doesn't take into account all the base packages one one's but only what it considers the highest level base package. Normally, this isn't an issue, since higher base packages include all the resources of lower base packages -- except for the Original Languages pack, which includes some resources available only in Scholars Gold and above.

Sorry for not reading this more carefully.

However, the price calculation is still distinct from the display information on this page (they access different databases). It's hard to believe that all your purchases are not being taken into account, but if that is the case, then the trustworthiness, and perhaps reliability of that calculation is at risk for everyone, and needs to be fixed immediately. It's possible that the calculation error only occurs for those that purchased OLL and then purchased a 'higher' base package, but that just makes the price calculator all that much easier to fix. I do know that sometimes talking to a sales person can give one a better price than what one can get on the internet, and I'm not totally sure that's not what's going on here -- but for now, I'll take your word for it and suspect the worst.

I do know that sometimes talking to a sales person can give one a better price than what one can get on the internet, and I'm not totally sure that's not what's going on here

Obviously, I can't swear to what was in the head of the person who answered me, but my question was very specific, ending with a claim that my upgrade prices on the web must be too high. And as I read the answer, it definitely confirms that. It certainly does not deny it.

I think there are other specific cases where this happens outside of OLL package owners.

I may be incorrect but I think the upgrade calculator only takes into consideration titles you purchased from Logos. I believe it draws data from your order page. That would explain why the upgrade suggestions include 5 titles I already have.

I have to be honest and say that I don't have a lot of confidence in the upgrade page and price reflected at all. I have several purchases which are being offered to me a second time in any upgrade and therefore presumably not being accounted for in the price - & I keep buying pre-pubs which seem to have no adjusting 'influence' upon the upgrade price either - so either the margins for adjustment are so broad that my purchases make no difference or the 'secret source' has run out.!!

I guess it only works if you have big pockets!
