Similar to the functionality in Kindle, Apple Books, and a number of other platforms, we have had an open feedback item for 4+ years to add the same functionality send Logos highlights to ReadWise. This feedback item is listed as 'needs your opinion' and has been boosted 89 times and has over 100 comments. (A shameless plug to please add your own upvote and comments)
I personally use ReadWise a lot because I collect highlights from Paper Books, Kindle, PDFs, YouTube, podcasts, etc., and Logos is not a good platform for aggregating research and study materials at this wide of scope. ReadWise is outstanding for this purpose and also allows you to do spaced repetition and mine your highlights with A.I.
The difficulty is that Logos does not have the ability to share your highlights with ReadWise, as Kindle and Apple Books do. I keep hoping this will change, and on occasion, this lack of interoperability leads me to buy a Kindle version instead of Logos. This is a shame, because there are many good reasons to have some resources on the Logos platform, comingled with my Biblical studies. Also, sometimes you already own a title in Logos, so how do you work around this?
It is not elegant, but here is one way to get the job done until we get a Logos ReadWise export facility.
- Create a dedicated notebook in Logos for the book you are about to read
- Take highlights and notes as you normally would, ensuring that you always save your highlight and note to this dedicated notebook
- When you are done with your book, export the notebook of notes to Microsoft Word
- Go to the ReadWise website and click 'Connect & Sync' —> 'Input - Freeform Input'—>Then Add a Book
- Once you have manually searched for and added a book, you can post each of your notes from Microsoft Word to ReadWise under this book
If a clever programmer wanted to, it would likely be possible to create a script that takes one of Logos' outputs and converts it to CSV format suitable for import, so you can avoid copying and pasting. If I had a really rainy day, I might attempt it, but for now I am just copying and pasting.
So there is a workaround for ReadWise users until Logos actions our input and opinions. In the meantime, please upvote this feedback item and share any other ways to leverage this amazing knowledge management resource with Logos books.
