SAD new policy

Been a Logos user for over 20 years! Logos has ALWAYS had a "once it is yours, you'll never buy it again" policy, even when they had to absorb the loss for mistakes in the store. I've been notified that the old policy has been revoked. Now you may own a resource and Logos may go in and remove your license. NOT a good move with those who have been faithful to you for decades!!

Happened to me too. My dynamic price is $14. You’d think for customer relations they would skip it, for only being $14. It would be different imho if it was $1400. Oh well, the new Logos. This will blow over, customers will forget. Maybe.For $14?

I'm sure they are needing to pay publisher fees that are nontrivial. Since this appears to be a legitimate licensing or store error, not a promotion they later regretted, it seems reasonable for Logos to correct it.

I do wish, for your sake, that it would have been honored anyway. From a customer-relations standpoint, I get the frustration, especially when the dynamic price is small. At the same time, ignoring a $14 error at scale adds up quickly, and not everyone is dealing with a $14 adjustment. My own dynamic price is $67.67.

I don’t think this goes against their policy of “once you own a license, you own it for life,” because in this case the license was never legitimately granted in the first place. It as incorrectly applied due to a softare/pricing glitch. That policy has historically applied to valid purchases, not to errors that later need correction.

For those reasons, I don’t think this represents a sad new policy, even though I understand why it feels disappointing.

Sorry to disagree, but Logos HAS honored mistakes that they made and later (generally within hours) had to correct. I also disagree with your assertion was never "legitimately granted" -- I was made an offer in their official store, which I accepted at the terms they offered.

Last year there were a couple of $0 pre-pubs that Logos cancelled peoples' orders for when the products were released at a non-free price, but this is the first time I've heard of them removing resources that were already in peoples' libraries.

I bought a car battery over the phone when the original failed. The car was jump-started, but when I arrived at their premises I was going to be invoiced at a higher price than quoted over the phone. But they honored the quote as that person had not included the price for fitting it! Matters may have been different if fitting was not "simple". In another case, I was charged for fitting a car part that both of us knew was exorbitant but his response was "Well, I saved you an overnight stay in a motel"!

I prefer the first dealer even if I had to pay for their mistake, and because the warranty would be honored through their dealership in the town where I lived.

Yes I received the same email as well. I am sympathetic to their plight but it is out of step with the way Logos has handled their mistakes. It is concerning they saw fit to remove a resource from our libraries without prior notification of the situation. The last time they tried that it in the ended up they had to back-peddle when and return to us the NASB Bible they took and replaced with one that had different formatting. While no money was involved initially this time we have to pay to get the resource back. Not a good way to handle your relationships with long term loyal customers.

You must be kidding. But they actually did it!

Since I don't need the resource, I'll leave it here. Otherwise you could rest assured that I'd get it via PayPal and launch a dispute.

You're hurting your best customers as well as others who previously trusted your service...

I feel for everyone affected, but I also sympathize with Logos side because I saw that if 1000 licenses were sold and they have to pay that 1000 licenses when 1000 clients were not charged and they had to bear the costs. So … dilemma…

The mileage on the cost to Logos will vary with some users having gotten the whole collection but also there are those who only got one book as the first five books were previously released as a collection and so how much it actually was going to cost them to maintain the respect and good will of their customers by not taking something from their customers when it was their mistake is not certain. Bottom line is new owners have changed a previously long standing approach to how the company in the past took ownership of their mistakes and did it without letting us know beforehand. Effectively they have gone behind their customers backs in carrying out things the way they have done it.

I am very thankful for all books I got for free in the past, among them some that must have been priced incorrectly. In no way did Logos have to honor those. Even when I bought this collection, I assumed already it might be a pricing error - after all the full price was $155 and I did not own any parts of the collection. I am not expecting Logos to spend many thousands of dollars for all those who got this for free, just because someone made a mistake (but Logos needs to make sure this doesn't happen as often ;-) )

Twice for me. Leaves a Bad Taste.

I was reconsidering a 2026 library package, but when I saw that email, I closed the Logos Store browser tab.

Mistakes are mistakes. If Logos apologized for the mistake and asked me if I would return the order, I would say, "Of Course." But no, Logos just removes the license for something I in good faith bought. My trust in the new lesser Logos is already low and dropping fast—makes me wonder what it will be next.
