L4Mac Crashing with Commands and Searches

Am running the latest version (4a SR-4) of L4Mac on my Mac.
I had been working through an L4Mac crash problem (crashed on opening to saved layout). Tom's advice worked: If you hold down Cmd as the application is starting, you can select "Use
a blank layout" which should allow you to get back to a workable state.
It looks like there is a problem with one of the searches that was run
in your last layout.
I successfully used the Cmd workaround to open and rebuild my layout without problems. L4 behaved normally, opening to the new layout without problem.
When, in the normal course of studies a few days later I used the command window for the first time (since the crash/rebuild layout), it immediately crashed. I reopened, tried it again, and it crashed again. I then tried a basic search (a lookup in Bible Dictionaries collection) with the search window, and it crashed again. I then reopened and tried a bible search, which it completed with no crash. Seems like command window and basic searches crash it.
I'd be grateful for anyone's help.

Geoff,
I'm looking at the logs, but I don't see anything that looks like a crash.
If you can reproduce the crash, would you send the logs before you restart?

I looked again at your Indexer.log and I see the crash.
You'll need to run "Rebuild index" from the command bar.

Thanks, Tom, for your help again with this. Am giving it a run tonight.
