Quick question - can the Cornerstone Biblical Commentary upgrade (http://www.logos.com/product/6272/cornerstone-biblical-commentary-upgrade) be purchased without owning the original 9 volume series (http://www.logos.com/products/details/4473)?

Yes. You'll just get the 7 volumes contained in the upgrade. If you later decide you want to buy the original 9 volume series to complete your set, you can do that. But both the original set and the upgrade will probably be discontinued someday and the whole CBC reissued as a single set with 16 volumes (or more if more come out in the interim). If you think you might ever want to own the whole set, then buying just the upgrade at this point might not be a financially wise decision, since you might not be able to return it by the time the whole set is available. It can take months before they combine commentary set uprades into a newly reissued base set, by which time your ability to return the upgrade is not guaranteed. You have a 30 day guarantee and beyond that it's up to the sales rep -- they can sometimes stretch it for you a bit, but probably not by months.
