How can I add two parallel texts?

I feel like I am missing something obvious, but I can't figure it out.

If I have the ESV open and I want to add the NIV and BHS as a parallel, as an example, I can click the view button and type the NIV and it adds. Then if I type the BHS the BHS replaces the NIV and I can't figure out how to get both the NIV and BHS to be in parallel together.

Sometimes I have things saved, so then if I have the NIV and BHS saved, I can add them both, but if it is a new parallel set I am trying to add and save, I can't figure out how to get the second parallel text from replacing the first parallel text.

Thank you for any clarity anyone is able to provide.

Hi everyone, I will respond in sections…

@DMB, ya, all of the versions I am trying to add have the OT and NT. It isn't actually the NIV, that was just an example.

@Graham Criddle, thank you for the screenshot. Yes, that is what I am trying to use, and every time I select anything, it deletes what is already there. So if I have the ESV and NIV, and then I want to add the NA28, the NA28 deletes the NIV.

@John Fidel, if I am understanding correctly, I am supposed to type everything in at once instead of typing one thing, and checking the box, and then typing the next and typing the box. Is that correct?

I have been messing with this for awhile and am getting pretty frustrated.

Ok, Kristin, which resource was it? Smiling.

It's designed to only show chosen resources that link to your driver ESV. If it's a greek NT and a hebrew OT, only one can appear at a time (the one(s) matching the driver resource).

If this is the cause, it might seem a problem. But it allows including lots of resources, that only show, as needed and matching.

Hi @DMB, What works is that the base is the ESV, then in parallel is the Hebrew, LXX, and my "user bible." Then in the NT it is the ESV, NA28 and my "user bible," and that all works fine.

For a specific class I need the base to be the NIV, but then have everything else the same. So the NIV, ESV, LXX, Hebrew (or NA28) and my "user bible" and I seriously can't pull this off. I finally got it to show the Hebrew in the OT, but then in the NT the OL disappears even though I have the Hebrew and NA28 linked as an "original language" pair (something I learned how to do a long time ago from a YouTube video, I think Jason Stone, but I might be wrong).

That's not needed for this to work correctly

What are you seeing that is different?

Kristin, type NIV click the box comma NA28 click the box comma… You should end up with multiple boxes checked for the texts you want in parallel.

Hi @Graham Criddle and @John Fidel, thank you both for your help. @Graham Criddle, regarding the OL text and my comment before, if I go to add a parallel and type "NA28" the ONLY option which shows up is something called "Original Language" and when I click it, the NA28 appears, and if I move to the OT the Hebrew appears. So it sounds like that isn't needed for this, but it is just how it has always been. (I watched that video I think the first week I got Logos, but I can't find it on YouTube anymore). It is ok, but I just wanted to clarify that.

@John Fidel, thank you, and you are correct that the comma was the problem. I had been clicking one thing and checking the box, then I would search for the next, but it would delete the checked box. However, if I want to add something and then to add something else I just keep that text there and add a comma, that finally shows it.

In light of this, my understanding is that if I have the ESV and the LHB is in parallel, an I want to add the LXX, I can't just add the LXX. I rather need to go back to the parallel text and re-find the LHB and add a comma, and THEN search for the LXX. The primary issue is that since the LHB was already there, I had just searched for what I had wanted to add, but apparently if I have three texts in parallel and want to add a fourth text, I need to first re-find the three which are already there and then search for the fourth text.

On a side note I have now saved random parallels, but most of these saved parallels I have are from before I understood how it works. Could one of you clarify how I can delete saved pairs?

Also, I see I have the option to add books tagged by something, which frankly seems impractical, primarily since I need control over the order the texts appear in parallel. Is there a way for it to stop suggesting tagged words?

No, you should be able to just search for the LXX and add it in

If you hover your cursor over it you should see a small x appear on the right which you can use to remove it

No, this isn't an option.

But they should appear below books and series so can be ignored.

Hi @Graham Criddle, thank you for your help. I'm not entirely sure why I can't just add another version (attempting to deletes the first one and replaces it, hence this post), but so far typing the whole string and separating it with commas seems to work.

Thank you also for clarifying how to delete saved pairs. Apparently I can't see a true list of the paired texts, but need to find them based on the first text, but that is ok. It isn't as much of a mess as I had thought, and I appreciate that the parallels remain with new layouts until I actively edit it.
