Reading Plans... ugh and what am I missing

I'm trying to use the new reading plan feature and I'm guessing I'm not doing it right so I'm hoping someone can point me in the correct direction. I'm starting up a group to do Grudem's Bible Doctrine (34 chapters) but I cannot get the reading plan to set it up correctly. I tried the new maker feature and it keeps picking odd breaks. I just want one chapter per reading. I then tried manual but I have to select the text in each chapter manually and drag it over (why can't I just say chapter 1?) and I have to select dates whereas I just want to read it on my own.

Regardless I gave up after a bit but then thought I would try it on my phone. My Logos iOS app figured it out all by itself with the correct chapter breaks just be electing start reading plan . Why can't I do this on the desktop or am I just missing something…

Thank you both. I did try the pages one too but as Dave said I had to keep deleting the plan and the few times I tried it didn’t come out right.

@Mark Barnes (Logos)  Please don’t break the mobile version of this or at least give us an option to use either old or new. I just want to break my readings up by chapters. Time might work for some but not me.

You are not missing anything. The new reading plan tool leaves a lot to be desired in my humble opinion.  What you found worked on the mobile is the old reading plan tool. The mobile app is yet to be upgraded to the new reading plan tool  which is why you got a better result - but that upgrade is happening soon as I understand and you will then be forced into creating manual reading plans if situations like the one you are finding now.  Setting the page ranges in the new reading plan tool still doesn't result in a plan that respects chapter boundaries.

From memory you are not the first person to be disatisfied with the new tool not being able to respect a fundamental property of books.  They are dividing into chapters.  Books are not divided into projected reading mintues which when used as a basis for creating a reading plan will more often than not result is unsatisfyng reading plans.  For me Logos need to go back to the drawing board.  They should have all books, including e-books tagged with chapter boundary markers so useful reading plans can be generated.

Saying I can't read to the end of the chapter, I can only read x minutes is symptomatic of a culture that is poor at time management and that has allowed social media to dertimine we only have time for posts limited by numbers of characters and videos limited by time. By going down this road with reading plans Logos is validating this culture.

You can choose a number of pages to eliminate prefaces and appendices:

Then choose a number of sessions (the default is shown):

The Plan may not be strictly by chapter, but you can vary the number of sessions until you are satisfied (Note that you need to delete and start a new Plan as Editing reverts the Plan to pages).
