highlighting on an iPad?

Question

As I have mentioned on a few threads, I find the auto-select (on the desktop version) to be really frustrating since when I am just trying to select a word to either copy it or highlight it, it randomly opens in a new column, distorting the width the column I had open, and / or selects the entire paragraph when I am trying to select a letter or word.

That all said, after taking 10 minutes to highlight 6 words (since it kept auto-selecting the paragraph), I am getting concerned about how long it will take to do the needed highlights since I thought I would be done by now.

That sad preface said, it occurred to me that maybe I should try highlighting on my iPad?? My understanding is that the highlight palettes are the same (as opposed to a different palette for the iPad as opposed to the computer, then I could bypass the whole highlighting chaos?

Since I have previously had bad experiences highlighting on my iPad (not Logos), I just want to ask to see how it is to do highlighting on the iPad and then go back to the Mac to actually use it. Will this help? Or will it create more issues?

If you tap the more dots to the right of the row of colors, you can access the remainder of the styles in “Additional styles”. I haven’t checked if you can change it or set a persistent palette, but the default is to show the most recently used styles in chronological order (so whatever color/style you used last will be on the left and so on).

Thank you, @Nathaniel D. Porter, I just tried it and it is 1000% easier, so after 5 seconds I am converted to highlighting on the iPad. That said, when I got access to the highlights, there was just a random row, and I "think" it was the highlighter pens, but I'm not sure, and I am trying to highlight it the same as what I had been using. Is there a way to change or confirm the palette on the iPad?

I do 95% of my Logos work on an iPad, including plenty of highlighting (in multiple highlighters) and notes. Hold a word to highlight. Double tap to highlight the entire sentence. The sentence highlighting logic gets a little wonky when there’s mid-sentence punctuation because of in-text citations or abbreviations and things but otherwise good. My other complaint is that pages don’t always scroll automatically when highlighting to the end of the displayed page - one workaround if you just want the spanning sentence is to go to the page where the rest of the text you want is then double tap the sentence that runs over the page boundary - but I haven’t come up with a great solution to make a single highlight running much farther than that. And the highlighting carries just fine between desktop and mobile. Hope this helps.
