Read Aloud Feature

Why do some books have the "read aloud" feature and other's don't? It would be nice to have this feature for all books in the library, would it not? It would also be nice to have the voice less synthetic and for the page change and voice to be in correspondence.

I am pretty sure this is an old problem that has not been fixed yet, Read Aloud requires the resource to have Page Numbers to work.

I am reading one resource that has visual filters but no page number box to click although it does read aloud.

It doesn't seem to depend on Page no. but for some resources (Mounce's Exp Dictionary) it will only read from the beginning of a page. It doesn't work for many dictionaries (COED, Merriam-Webster) and encyclopaedias, but it reads from the start of articles in Eerdman's Bible Dictionary.

There seems to be more resources not reading aloud now than earlier this year. I' dyslexic so often use the feature. 'In his Steps' was being read to me until I updeated to 4.2 now the option has gone away. Also The History of the Christian Church' has no read aloud.

There seems to have been some other change as well, as my copy of Read & Write (a screen reaser supplied to Dislexic students in the UK by the Disability service will no longer read text from Logos windows.

Any sugestions welcome.

PS Appologies for the spelling but this screen dosen't want to do a spelling check for me.

I ended up buying a 3rd party software called NaturalSoft. There is a free download but for the upgraded edition the voices were much better. The website is: http://www.naturalreaders.com/index.htm

Paul which version do you have? i wasn't to impressed with the free version but i like the concept especially for some of the hard words in the bible. whats the difference in the voices in the pay versions and the free?

I have Natural Reader 10 which is the free download but I purchased an additonal voice, "Paul" which sounded better than the default voice "Anna". The cost was about 29.00 dollars. It reads at different speeds which you can control. The Personal version is 49.50 and comes with "Paul". I found it cheaper to download the free version and pay the 29.00.

I like the fact that is has the same name as you -- that must be fun! How does it compare to the personalized voice -- "Roger Junior" --
that Roger Ebert had a company in Scotland custom-make for him based on recordings of his own voice from before he lost the ability to speak?

Confirmed Logos 4.3 Beta 2 (in Windows 7) cannot read aloud "In His Steps" and "History of the Christian Church", yet can read "Exploring Church History" and several others.
