Question: searching greek

If I search in ESV for g:apostolon, which is the manuscript word ἀποστόλων, I get a hit on Acts 1:26, rightly so (word is apostles).

But if I search on g:apostolos, the lemma of that entry (ἀπόστολος), I do not get a hit there, even if I have the search set up to match all word forms. Shouldn't that work? How do I search on the Greek for of apostle as a lemma? I tried lemma:apostolos, and lemma:g:apostolos, and neither worked either...

In a Bible search tab, you have to use this syntax: <Lemma = lbs/el/ἀπόστολος> If you don't know how to enter the Greek letters, you can type g:apostolos first (by itself without the rest of that Lemma syntax), then select greek:ἀπόστολος from the dropdown, and edit it to look like the above.

In a Morph search tab, you can search in a Greek NT (e.g., NA27) for g:apostolos, but you have to select the proposed matching lemma from the dropdown (lemma:ἀπόστολος) to get it to work.

The easiest way to launch a lemma search is to right-click on one occurrence of a form of the word that you're already looking at (like apostles in Acts 1:26), select the Lemma tab on the right-hand side of the menu, and then click "Search this resource."

I get a hit searching the ESV too. I don't know what is happening on your end. I would just say make sure after you type "lemma:apostolov" you click the popup rather than just hitting enter. I'm sure you know that though.

You need to be in Morph Search, using Logos Greek morphology and then lemma:ἀπόστολος will work. You can type the full term as shown or simply enter ἀπόστολος and then select the suggestion with the gloss.

If you right click the word in Acts 1:26, select Lemma on the right, then Search this resource on the left you will be given a Bible Search with the full syntax necessary eg. <Lemma = lbs/el/ἀπόστολος>
