4.2 Beta 5 Indexing trouble

I have been unable to have indexing complete after the major resource download and b5 update. The first time the indexer stopped working and the second time it disappeared. On both occasions it left no crash file.

I then decided to delete the files in Bible Index and Library Index in the hope that that would solve the problem. May be I shouldn't have done that. I did read that Rebuild Index <http://community.logos.com/forums/t/25756.aspx>is what will recreate the indices. However, it still crashes after almost getting to the end.

First run after deleting index 8357.Logos4Indexer1.zip

Second run which generated a crash file 2821.Indexer2.zip

Note that I have run Prime95 on the computer all night and it showed no errors - I'm befuddled!

There are errors on three resources before the crash. You might try hiding the three, restarting Logos, then unhiding them to see if they will download and index correctly. The three resources are: The Lexham Clausal Outlines of the Greek New Testament (CLAUSALNT), The Lexham Greek-English Interlinear Septuagint (LLXXI), and Different by Design (LLS:40.90.2, design.logos4).

I have done that, but haven't tried reindexing. I have to wait for an appropriate time.

I have also taken note of what has been said about temperatures and voltage being factors that can cause errors. I have a powerpak that is not the original one that came with this Toshiba laptop. Unfortunately, it burnt out. Perhaps this is part of the problem. It is also starting to become a little hot over here in Australia and I want to make sure the laptop will be in air conditioning when reindexing starts.

I'd just like to share with you my impression of the indexing system. I know a lot has been said and I can see the value of indexing. However, for those users who may have more sensitive computers like I seem to have, indexing becomes somewhat a nightmare. All I can suggest - and it may be an impossible/impractical suggestion - is that the system be able to search without the need of the indexes. This would be a HUGE benefit to me and no doubt many others. Please pass these comments on to the Logos team - thanks.

I use a household fan to get cool air on my laptop! Much more preferable than going back to lbxlls files with their own index (.logos4 files have no index)!
