Christmas gifts?

Christmas is coming. Several friends are asking what I'd like. I'd like a few Logos credits that I can combine to buy the books of my choice. How should I recommend them to go about it? I'm in the UK, so does it require a transatlantic phone-call? I can't find anything on the website about gift certificates or the like.

There is no way currently to buy gift certificates, but you can buy a product for someone, and I think you can put credit on their Logos account. It does require contacting Sales directly, but it doesn't require a transatlantic phone call. You can email them at sales@logos.com. They'll assign a particular sales rep to help you out, and thereafter you can contact that person directly via his or her email address if you need some special help.

Thanks, Rosie!

Even if Logos just came up with paper gift certificates, it would be greatly appreciated. I would love to direct people to Logos for gift certificates when they ask what I (and other pastors) would like for Christmas.

This has been asked for before.
Bob Pritchett said (Sept 11 2009):
We really, really want gift vouchers, too. And customer service credits, and various other things. These things bring up some complicated ecommerce engine and accounting issues, though, which we're still working through It's all absolutely "on the list" -- and I want it more than anyone! -- but it'll probably be early next year before it's implemented.
That was over a year ago and it didn't happen in early 2010. Now that they've got the new website in place, with the complicated ecommerce engine changes that should enable future features like this, can we hope for this early next year now? I don't have people in my life who use Logos that I'd need to buy gift certificates for, nor do I need people to buy them for me, but I definitely support the need for them for others.

Rosie,
I'm pretty certain that there is a post from Phil Gons around here that indicates this is very high on the list.

NO! NO! NO! Don't let LOGOS mention Christmas before the day after Thanksgiving!
I have a firm rule, built on solid American tradition, that those businesses who mention Christmas at the wrong time don't deserve my business. The number of catalogs that recently went out in the recycle bin is astounding. Online retailers simply get their ads deleted. (And, yes, before you ask, yesterday was my last day at the mall because of the garishness that is near or at completion.)
NO! NO! NO! Don't let LOGOS mention Christmas before the day after Thanksgiving!
I do not want to tell LOGOS, "See you in January!"
heh.

Charles,
I share your consternation. Don't worry, I think Logos will behave themselves until Nov 26th.

It's okay, Charles. Thanksgiving is in October in Canada. Bellingham is less than 30 minutes from the border. Therefore, it's after Thanksgiving very close to Logos' home.

Sure. I'll just add some water to the soup.

Another way to go is for Logos to place their latest products on Amazon.
Products listed on Amazon can be placed on a member wishlist. I see that a search of "Logos Bible Software" there brings up old versions of Logos. These can be placed on a wishlist.
I have friends of family who regularly check this wishlist around my birthday or Christmas. Very convenient without needing to risk any sensitivities around communicating gift ideas.

Since Logos is moving rapidly in the direction of having no products on CD but just downloadable products only, selling via Amazon.com would not be technically possible, since the whole unlock mechanism needs to go through Logos's servers. Also Amazon takes a cut of the profit, which Logos wouldn't want to share with them, I'm sure. [:)]

All Logos products can already be placed on an Amazon wishlist.
If you're on Mac there's a Safari extension you can download, that makes it really easy. If you're on PC there was a blog post about it 2 years ago: http://blog.logos.com/archives/2008/12/whats_on_your_logos_wish_list.html. Wouldn't surprise me if there's an easier way today.

Logos has hinted that adding wishlists to their own website is high on their priority list. I hope when they implement it they do it in such a way that other people can buy gifts for someone from their wishlist.
