"Follow" as default

I would like to suggest again that "Follow" as a default be "canned" (Australian expression for scraped). Perhaps that is too zealous. But please give us the ability to set "None" as a default. If this is not suitable as it may not be to many users, could it not be possible to allow "Power Lookup," "Cited By," and "Explorer" to remember the last used setting?
I imagine that this would suffice for those who prefer "None" as their choice of default. If this is how L4 is suppose to perform, then my system is not working this way.

Been asking this for a long time. It has my vote. I hate the default to 'Follow.'

Is this on UserVoice yet? Probably the best place to suggest it if it hasn't been already.

Probably should be, but I'm long since out of votes.

Thomas, in the spirit of Christmas maybe Logos can give you two more : )
BTW Logos will remember your cited by settings on a saved layout. Every time I open Cited by, Power lookup and Explorer, the first thing I do is change the link. I guess the default is especially for newer users, but I would love it they remembered my last setting.

I wouldn't say that. I just prefer not to leave those tools open. When I open one of them I hate the fact it starts working automatically on a resource even if that isn't the resource I want it to work on. I avoid using these tools partially for this reason.
I think my real preference is to have it open like every other resource, without any linking at all. But I'll take 'remember the last setting' because I could accomplish that behavior by selecting 'None'.

I agree with Mark on this one.

with respect, this plea well predates the existence of user voice. I will say what I have been saying for well over a year: setting these tools to follow by default could only have been programmed by someone who does not use logos for serious study. I, like Mark, avoid all of these tools because of this frustrating behavior.

Mark, I absolutely agree and cast my vote. I guess I didn't have enough faith to believe that they would change it, based on their philosophy of making the software user friendly. I never use the "go" button on the home page, but they seem to be particularly proud of it. In reality I don't think the follow default really makes those tools "user friendly".

4.2 Beta 7 will change the behavior of the auto-follow panels as following:
If you set the link set to anything other than "Follow" in an open tool panel (or load a layout that has an instance of this tool with a non-Follow linkset), the default linkset that will be chosen the next time you open this tool from the Tools menu (or a favourite or shortcut) will be "None". The tool will still detect the active Bible reference and initialise itself from that, but it will not automatically follow changes in the active panel.

Thank you! My faith is restored.

That's good to hear.

Excellent. I know I will be willing to use these tools more often because of this. Thanks for hearing our concern. (Plus I get my User Voice votes back.)

Power Lookup does not initialise from the active panel - I have to set Follow!
