Eerdmans Wesleyan Bible Commentary

It has been a while since this has been brought to the table for discussion.

I used this Wesleyan commentary set in seminary - surprisingly, it was as helpful as some of the more better known tools available 25 years ago. If you are new to LOGOS and have not taken a look at this set, now would be a good time to do so.

I did some searching to find some reviews on this and could find nothing. The price is a little steep for my billfold - but if it was really good . . . perhaps. So how is the theology in this compared to Adam Clarke? I do like the Clarke commentary.

It is a very good commentary from the evangelical Wesleyan perspective. The commentators are some of the best Wesleyan scholars of the 1960's and 1970's. Dennis Kenlaw was not only one the truly great Wesleyan Old Testament scholars, but was the longtime President of Asbury College.

Highly recommend.

I find it interesting that Dennis Kinlaw writes in the vol Job–Song of Solomon in this set and on Psalms-Song of Solomon on The Expositor’s Bible Commentary, Volume 5: Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Songs

There is a book of his on Amazon that's tempting. Well, I'm convinced. I just placed an order for it. Thanks for the input Michael & Floyd. It has one more push to production.
