Advice from ipad users

I am hoping that someone who is using the ipad with the Logos app to give me some advice.

Atm I am using Logos 4 on my main PC, and the app on my ipod touch. I also use logos 3 on my tablet pc, it is not fast enough to run logos 4. I am wondering whether or not I should get an ipad. I can carry the tablet pc to seminars or to meetings at church but the issues are the battery life, the fact that the tablet is quite thick the fan can sometimes make a noise when it gets warm and it is not touch screen, requires use of a stylus.

What I am really asking is how much better is the experience on the ipad from the ipod, is the ipad a better idea than my tablet pc. Is it worth sacrificing the extra functions on the tablet pc to get the more portable and silent ipad. Or should I stick with what I`ve got, tablet pc , not touch screen, using a stylus only.

On the plus side for he tablet pc, I can have logos 3 open and have onenote open and take handwritten notes with the stylus, highlight as I want etc.

If using the ipad, would I be able to take notes perhaps using evernote at the same time as having l the logos app open on the ipad, or is there no way of multitasking to take notes?

I appreciate any advice that anyone can give me regarding using the ipad as my Bible, or sticking with the tablet pc and maybe buying a new battery to get more hours of use.

Thanks

Duncan

    Duncan,

I recently bought an iPad because I read a lot and wanted to do it away from my laptop, which I work on all day.  It does not run the complete Logos app in the way your tablet probably does.  I can read (really comfortably!), run a passage guide, see text comparison, run a Bible Word study by touching a word and see the lemma, etc under the text.  There is also basic and Bible searching, although I'm not sure they are as flexible as the PC app.  I haven't used them much yet so that might be a learning issue for me.   Those functions and seeing reading plans are what I have discovered so far.  The other things are either not implemented yet, don't plan to be or I have overlooked them.  I find it useful but I'm not in school.  I need to use my laptop for inductive study since I need highlighting and notes.

Also, multi-tasking is not available yet on the iPad itself.  It's coming in the next iOS release but the release date is not set in stone yet.  Once that is available the iPad should be able to keep more than one app running at once.

I'm sure others will chime in with more details since I've only had my iPad for about a week and some like Kevin have been using one for a while but I'm thinking you might want to get more info before you buy, given the high price for the device.  It is very quiet and it doesn't get warm, which is great if it will do what you need.

Bigger screen is easier to read.

Sitting in a pew, have used iPad to look up verse references in variety of Bibles - once verse found, easy to switch versions.

On the plus side for he tablet pc, I can have logos 3 open and have onenote open and take handwritten notes with the stylus, highlight as I want etc.

New battery for more hours good for note multitasking - can import Libronix 3 notes to Logos 4.
