BUG: Print/Export selection

Print/export selection only works to 100 pages and then starts truncating the end. This shows up in the preview and is exactly how it's exported.

Print/Export is limited to 100 pages at a time by design.

Is this a technical decision or a copyright kind of limitation thing? Just curious.

My understanding is that both copyright and technical issues figured into the decision.

Remember that it's 100 pages of any size. So if you want more text to be exported, just increase the page size. If you're exporting in RTF format, the actual page size will still be the default. I've successfully exported the equivalent of about 600 letter-sized pages using this method. When I tried to go beyond that, Logos crashed with an out of memory error.

I will back up Melissa's point though. Performance does suffer when previewing very long exports.

Hmmm... thanks, Mark... will have to think about that one :)

Preview ghastly slow, yes... wish for a way to turn off.

    Thanks

I also just hit this limitation.

Logos just truncates files, not giving a single message like "We are terribly sorry that publishers caring more about covetousness and riches of this world than about spreading God's light forbids us to print the book you paid for!".

It's because of things like this that I decided not to upgrade from Libronix to a Logos 4 base package (I had my eye on Scholar's).

And I am really sorry because Logos is truly a really nice application. But unfortunately the shackles are too great to wear.

If I bought a book, I expect to be able to read it when I want, how I want.

I currently have a Sony PRS-650 and would have gone through the trouble to convert it to EPUB, but this is too much!

The preview is also unacceptably slow on a very performant computer. And I don't even need it. It should be turned off by default.

I know that it's the publishers that push you to this kind of overly harsh restrictions, but unfortunately Logos will just have to suffer along with them.

And I bet some of the publishers are not even aware of this kind of restrictions and would probably remove some of them given the choice (hint: Logos should have restrictions per book, according to the publisher, not globally).

By the way, O'Reilly, which is selling technical IT books more than doubled their ebook sales after dropping DRM entirely.

    Chritian,

Unfortuntely, electronic copyright laws don't permit you to do that. There are laws on all materials...printed, electronic...recorded....that's just a fact of life.

Don't take it out on Logos.... :)

Like I said, there are publishers that do very well after removing DRM.

It should be even easier in this situation, given the audience (copyright violation is theft; theft is sin; real christians will avoid sin like plague).

Actually most of the time, the ones that suffer because of DRM are paying customers. Pirates gets the DRM-free version.

Unfortunately, Logos is caught in the middle.

To keep my peace of mind, I think I will postpone my buying Logos until they strike better deals with the publishers.

Until then, I'll keep reading my KJV (public domain) :)

    God bless,

    Cristian

Whilst I appreciate where you are coming from, are you aware how much is available in the Public domain/freee that can be plugged to Logos?

    We have a God who
has promised to meet out needs, I agree we need to avoid sin like the
plague, and not all purchases are needs, we need to be good stewards of what God has given us, but if you realy need it in 2 formats, God will make a way.. (or at least I believe He will)
