Instructions to completely uninstall all traces of L4 - please.
Hi
Is there an equavalent of PurgeLDLS.BAT for L4?
Can someone help to complete the list to do a complete uninstall of L4 for some of us who might want to do that before Beta 7 hits us.
For me I got a problem with ReadAloud that always fail on the second and subsequent book, that seems to be only unique to me. So, I like to purge L4 to ground zero to re-install.
The following is what I have gathered from various forum discussions:
Vista:
- To uninstall, use Programs and Features in Control Panel to remove Logos4 and pre-requisite
- Remove this folder: C:\Users\<UserID>\AppData\Local\Logos4
XP:
- To uninstall, use Add and Remove Programs in Control Panel to remove Logos4 and pre-requisite
- Remove this folder C:\Documents and Settings\<UserID>\Local Settings\Application Data\Logos4
To Re-Install:
http://downloads.logos.com/LBS4/LDLS4Installer/Logos4Setup.exe
However, I noticed User Customization(s) such as Collection, Prioritization, etc. were not removed. What are other folders, Registries that we should remove?

Before you uninstall save your L4 resources folder as it will save some downloading! You might want to wait until after the B7 download to be sure you will not miss a vital d'load by Cancelling during this procedure. If you are OK with re-downloading 4+ GB then ignore the steps "ASAP ....stop Downloads" thru "Close & Restart L4".- move (drag) your L4 Resource folder to
a folder on the same drive (saves a lot of time over moving to another
drive) ---->
...\Logos4\Data\{random}\ResourceManager\Resources. - uninstall L4 and L4 Prerequisites via Control
Panel - delete the remains of Logos4 folder
- download Beta6/7 **
- choose Custom installation if you want to install in
a folder of your choice - Sign-on
- ASAP (when program finally opens) use Program
Settings to stop Downloads++ - Kill Logos4Indexer.exe in
Task Manager (I'm not sure that Pausing will work) - Type Scan c:\L4Resources (where you
put them) into Command bar & confirm the command by clicking on the
suggestion - Close & Restart L4
- Indexing should start.
- Go to bed!
** get/confirm link through the forum!
++ if you get a download you should Cancel it
... the standard
installation path is:-XP - C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local
Settings\Application Data\Logos4Vista/Win7 -
C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Logos4Dave
===Windows 11 & Android 13
0 - move (drag) your L4 Resource folder to

Dave,
Thanks for the tips to avoid 3-4GB of download. Still trying to figure out where all the user customization(s) like collection, prioritization, etc, are kept; I want to purge everything down to ground zero (maybe except the downloaded Resources).
I have a weird problem with Readaloud that I reported on another thread, so I just want to be sure is not due to anything I did since the beta testing started.
Logos is there a PurgeLDLS4.cmd ? Please!

All of your documents and collections and stuff is all sync'd with the server, so as soon as you log in, everything should reappear. If you want to get rid of everything you might have to individually erase all of your stuff..

George,
Thanks, I just want to purge all traces L4 on my Windows XP, not what is on the Server.

If you want to erase everything just uninstall from control panel -> Add/Remove Programs (Programs & Features for Vista), both Logos4 and Logos4 Prerequisites. I would take Dave's advice to hold onto your resources though, make a copy of them or move them somewhere out of that Logos4 folder, to save you from a huge download. Other than that, you have the instructions correct from your first post, erasing that Logos4 folder in your user directory will essentially wipe everything. I highly recommend not editing the registry, there is nothing to erase from there.
Edit: Dave has some good steps on how to uninstall and reinstall with minimal downloading, follow him! Thanks Dave.
