Transferring Note Files Between Computers

Good Evening Friends,

I apologize in advance if this question has already been posted on the forums, but I was not able to find anything related at this point.

Anyway, my question is whether or not there is an easy way to share note files between two different installs of Logos (I use Logos mostly on my laptop, but occasionally find myself using it at home on my desktop computer and my note files would come in handy.)  I have not tried yet, but I believe a file is created which I could simply email to myself or copy over, but I was not sure if there was another method that may prove to be faster.

And, just out of curiosity, how do you use the user notes feature in your study?  Are there any "tips" or special ways you use the note files?  I'm trying to figure out creative ways to use it to the max.  Thanks!

I've transferred mine from Laptop to desktop.  My note files are located in the annotations folder (see below).  I simply copied them onto a usb drive and pasted them into the same folder on my desktop.  Both note files are in both locations.

The only drawback is I have to repeat the process if I want the most up to date notes on both computers.

C:\My Documents\Libronix DLS\Annotations

I am aware of the transferring of files back and forth, and the drawback of having to repeat the process each time.  I wonder if there is some way to synch our notes with the internet and have them accessible from another computer.  Though, I suppose it is similar to the file transfer with a USB drive. 

The more I think about this though, I realize how lazy I have become when it comes to computing [;)].  When USB drives came out, they were the "future" of file transfer... pretty interesting to think about as now we are wanting instant access and transfer with a click (or less!).

You might check out windows live sync or dropbox (getdropbox.com). Either of these will sync computer files automatically.

For transfering files between computers I use Windows Live Mesh. I've been using it for around three months and it looks great so far. It synchs selected folders automatically and you get 5GB online storage. When I checked out Dropbox earlier this year you got 2GB online storage and you could only synch the Dropbox folder.

Once installed it's very simple, you just right click on the Annotations folder (or of course the Libronix DLS folder in My Documents) and click "Add folder to Live Mesh"  Then install the program on the other computer. Shortcuts to synching with the folders in your mesh will be added to the desktop of that computer. You can of course synch them with any folder on your computer.

I'll look into the Windows Live Mesh as it looks promising.  It looks as though it is in beta testing so I hope it continues to be free if it works [:)]
