Is there a way to take my own papers and sermons currently in word document format and add them to my searchable resources?
Hi Nathan, this will be coming soon through the Personal Book Builder and possibly the Sermon File Add-in. The Sermon File add-in won't actually convert your notes to Logos format but I would not be surprised if it has some sort of search features.
More information is here: http://www.logos.com/4/missingfeatures
Will that be a feature that I have to purchase?
Welcome to the forums, Nathan!
As Rick mentioned, the sermon file and personal book builder addins, coming next year to Logos 4, will give you this ability. You're right that they're options that must be purchased.
You might consider the built-in notes feature as a free way to bring your own content into Logos. I create notes documents for various topics (such as "Justification" or "Patriotism"), and then copy and paste helpful articles from the web into them, along with a link to the original. You could do the same with papers and sermons that you have written. The sermon file is specialized for archiving sermons, and will give better results, but I think you could do a credible job just with notes. Especially if your main interest is searchability and having scripture citations linked.
Let me know if you'd like more specific instructions for using notes in this way.
Best,
-B.
Mark Barnes' video tutorial on notes is very instructive. You might get some inspiration watching it:

Unfortunately no one on the forums, except for a maybe a Logos employee, can answer that question right now. There was some indication that Bob wants to move away from the add-in features that existed in L3.
In the mean time you could create a notefile (files) and copy and paste documents into them. The result may not be exactly what you are looking for in terms of search capability, as it would be restricted to the My Content search capabilities in the basic search. Depending on how much material you have, the time required to copy and paste content may not be worth it.
EDIT: Bob and I were posting similar thoughts at the same time.
Thanks to all. I will look into the notes feature. I have quite a bit of content i would like to make searchable but that might help me get started.
Great minds think alike, Fred. [;)]

Great minds think alike, Fred.
Very few people who know me would accuse me of having a "great mind". But what do they know! Thank the Lord for forums where we can interact with people who don't know us.[;)]
I assume your emphasis is on 'add' the sermon search to the Logos search. I too have thousands of docs on my drive, but a standard text search utility goes thru them quickly; considerably faster than Logos main due to the text display. Windows7 also includes an embedded text search in the file manager.
