I am working on Logos 3 and doing a search in "humanism."
I receive many hits on "human", "humanity", and "humanism".
Is there a way to limit the hits to just "Humanism" and exclude all other variations?
Yes. Use the NOSTEM() operator. The search would be NOSTEM(Humanism)
Libronix automatically does stem searching (finding the word's stem and searching on all forms of it). This operator tells Libronix not to do that but to restrict the search to that word only. There is more information on Search operators and other ways to modify searching in the Help file under Searching>Advanced Searching.
I believe that you need to use a search operator like exact(humanism)
From the help file:
Since all searches use stemming by default (for instance, the search hope will return hits such as hope, hopes, hoped, hoping, etc.), we must often constrain our searches with modifiers such as nostem(), case(), marks() or exact(), where the search term is specified inside the parentheses (i.e., nostem(hope)).
Thanks guys.... that did the trick!
