Question on original language manuscripts

Pardon me if this is a silly question, but I can't say I know the answer...

How could I find out what are all the different original manuscripts OT and NT in Logos? In other words, what are all the unique Greek manuscripts, and what are the unique Hebrew manuscripts? Does anyone have layout(s) to have them all up to regularly compare them? I am becoming more interested in seeing the difference between manuscripts, and between Logos' work, some of the Bibles like NA27, interlinears, etc., I feel a little overwhelmed as to which are different sources and which are the same.

My real intent is an OT layout and NT layer showing all original language sources. Thanks!

not being a scholar, but NA27 and USB4 are a compilation via textual criticism to the best of my knowledge. The wikipedia had some basic info on this:

Probably i am not understanding your request. Or more precisely my library doesn't have what you are referring to.

Why not run a text comparison of a large chunk of scripture on all your Hebrew/Greek bibles. If you do it in Greek you'll need to exclude fragments. Bibles with the same %age difference should be identical (check a few scripture ranges to make sure).

Second, Logos shows equivalent resources (not parallel) on resources that it has marked as having identical text. That might help too.

<edit>It doesn't work in Hebrew. I think that's OK, because I think all the Logos resources use the same base text in the OT.

In the NT, I got:

AGNT = UBS4 = GNT4th = LDGNT = LGNTI = NA27
NA26 = very similar to NA27

Scrivener 1881
Westcott-Hort
Byzantine
Tischendorf
TextusReceptus 1894
TextusReceptus 1550 = very similar to above

I don't have a layout to compare them, but in my main NT layout I have two text comparison Windows, one for English, one for original languages. I have NA27, Elzevir, Byzantine TR1894 and WH as being either representative or important. I should probably add SBLGNT now.</edit>

This may not be the best place for me to ask this but I noticed this thread in regards to original languages and hope it could be answered and possibly helpful for others with the same questions as me. Does anyone know if Logos has the Majority Text with morphology? I have a copy of the Majority Text in Logos but it does not have morphology like others like the TR and UBS. Thanks Mark! I tried your suggestion. Here's how I did it, and what results I got (for Greek):

First, I had a collection of all resources Type:Bible. That has some non-Bibles in it which I get out later. I did a text comparison of something like Luke 6 across all of them, and with my library pane and a new Collection pane up, I built a collection of all results that returned a Greek result.

Then I used that Collection in a text comparison. I wrote down all the percentage differences, and based on a couple of comparisons I deleted one resource or another if the percent was the same. During this phase I culled out the few non-Bibles I had in there, or resources that may have had the text of Luke in it but not the full NT.

I ended up with 20 resources in my "Collection of Unique Greek Bibles".

Here is what I got, after doing an Export of the Bibliography from the Collection that was left:

Left: NA27 w/apparatus, GNT4th w/apparatus, SBL w/apparatus, AGNT, Majority Text, Scrivener 1894, WH 1881, Text of the earliest NT Greek manuscripts.

Upper Right: NA27 apparatus, SBL apparatus, Majority Text apparatus, NT Graece apparatus criticus, A Textual guide to the Greek NT, Textual commentary on the Greek NT, WBC.

Lower Right: BDAG, ANLEX, Grammatical analysis of the Greek NT, Biblical Greek Illustrated by examples.

Another tool that would be very helpful in the study of variants and Textual Critical issues would be "New Testament Text and Translation Commentary" by Philip W. Comfort. Unfortunately this title isn't available in Logos so you would need to buy a paper book. I have it and love it. Very helpful (Logos I think we need this book).

What actually constitutes the Majority Text is not of course 100% certain. But The New Testament in the Original Greek: Byzantine Textform 2005 (referred to above as Byzantine) is one of the few that can make that claim (it's edited by Robinson and Pierpoint)

The other main edition claiming to be the Majority Text is The Greek New Testament According to the Majority Text edited by Hodges and Farstad, but I don't have that.

It doesn't look like Logos has the following uncials (but would be FANTASTIC to have):

Codex Bezae
Codex Sinaiticus
Codex Vaticanus
Codex Alexandrinus

From where I sit, as often as I see these being primary witnesses for current critical editions, these would be necessary to do what you're looking to do for the GNT. Of course we'd want it all linked to from apparatus in addition to Comfort's early papyri and uncials. I'd also like to see the CNTTS apparatus.

Wallace's website has images of a LOT of textual witnesses if you're a stud with the Greek.
